I’ve heard ‘em all by now. People are calling electronic cigarettes all sorts of names. I’ve heard people call them “fake” cigarettes even though there is nothing fake about them. That one made me chuckle. I’ve heard “steam cigarettes” which refers to the steam that is made upon taking a puff. It creates steam, or as some people say, Vapor. Vapor cigarettes is perhaps the most common out of all the names people call e cigarettes, or e-cigs, as I usually call them.
Whatever you call them, the professional vernacular is “personal vaporizer.” Say what? Yep, that is what the professionals want to call them – personal vaporizers.
I just wanted to make these points so people don’t freak out when I call them by a name that may not be the same every time. I blog constantly on the topic of e cigarettes, and I often call them whatever is fresh in my head that day. It’s funny to me how something has so many names already, in it’s infancy, but I guess that is what culture does. With slang so present in the modern day, it was bound to happen. Just look at automobiles and all the names they go by: cars, trucks, SUV, convertible, ride, whip, van, mini van, jeep, two-seater, etc. I think you get my point by now – e cigarettes are being called so many names as they are a world wide sensation, and people for the most part are socially accepting them.
Anyways, sorry to rant but I thought there was a method behind my madness since I use so many different ways to describe e cigs. Enough said on that topic.
I read today that a county in Washington is trying to ban e cigs, which really shocked me. They mentioned the reason being e-cigarettes can possibly lead minors to trying a nicotine product. What a crock! You can’t sell a nicotine product to a minor as it is – so this makes no sense to me! I just don’t get the backlash some people are taking against electronic cigarettes. It’s a shock to me that a small portion of people will reject change and as I call it “hate on” a new business idea. Makes zero sense to me as someone who thinks e cigarettes are the best alternative to smoking since…..candy cigarettes. Remember those? The white candy cigarettes that used to be dispensed at the candy store for like 25 cents a pack? Those were just great – but nobody had anything bad to say about them?
I remember being a five year old, “fake smoking” like I saw so many of my friend’s parents do with the real cigarettes. Nobody close to me smoked cigarettes, so this was what I had to mimic people I saw smoking real tobacco products. The thing was to “look cool” like a person you knew who smoked, and for some reason, these were very popular with kids when I was younger. Again, p0int being, you can ban about anything you put in your mouth that emulates smoking tobacco products, but why ban something like the ecigarette that gets rid of foul odors and lessens waste at the same time?
I am surprised environmentalist groups haven’t started a “green” cigarette yet. Could that be the next innovation?

i tried parado and e cigarettes and not satisfied with either one. do you have a recommendation?
