Blu Cigs Review. Blu Cigs has the best electronic cigarette marketing, period. One look at the short, to the point logo, and you won’t forget about Blu Cigs.
When people ask me what the best electronic cigarettes are for new vapor smokers, I always tell them that if price is an issue, go ahead and give the Blu Cigs electric cigs a shot. Not only are they priced fair, but Blu Cigs is also one of the most recognized brands in the industry.
As if making the switch to electric cigarettes wasn’t a savings enough, Blu Cigs offers a starter kit that sells for the low price of $69.95. The sharp packaging and solid design work shows you that a lot of time went into creating the smoking apparatus Blu Cigs offers. The starter kit price affords you one pack that holds five e-cig cartridges, one electronic cigarette battery, as well as one spare battery.
In addition, you get the following with your Blu Cigs Starter kit:
- 5 cartridges in the strength of your choice
- 1 Wall Charger
- 1 USB Charger
Full 30 day money back guarantee and one year warranty! Blu Cigs really steps up with their e cigarette starter Kit.
The thing that sets Blu Cigs apart from other brands is the on-the-go charging pack. Very cool, sleek design.
Blu Cigs makes it really easy to buy e-cigarettes with that offer. I have used Blu Cigs and as stated earlier, if you are on a budget or want to move slowly into smoking e-cigarettes, this is a great brand to try out because they make it very easy to do so.
February 8, 2011 update! I’ve got some updates! Blu Cigs has upgraded their product. It’s better than ever, and if you tried their products in the past and weren’t happy with the vapor production, well, that has been addressed. I spoke with an exec at Blu Cigs about this in depth, and have some great information about the new products.
- Flavors are made by Johnson Creek in the USA at their FDA registered facility.
- The atomizer and cartridge are now one single unit.
- Vapor volume is about 250 puffs per cartridge.
- Works with your existing Blu Cigs Devices.
- Refill cartridges are $12 for a pack of 5. Pretty good deal compared to other e-cig brands.
There is also free shipping when you purchase Blu Cigs Starter Kit!
Blu E Cigarettes continue to be a top seller and use only USA made ingredients.

I ordered my black starter kit on 02/15/10. On 02/19/10 I used their LIVECHAT to find out why my order was still processing. He stated processing takes up to 72 hours. I reminded him it had been over 72 hours. He said that the black starter kits were on back order. I reminded him they were not at the time of my order (at the time it was the white ones that were). He said there was nothing he could do but reassure me that my order would be sent on 02/22/10. On 02/22/10 I logged into my account and it showed my order was canceled. I called this time and she stated there was a “glitch” in the system and the order was still going to be sent the following morning by the manager on 02/23/10. On 02/23/10 I logged in again and found my order to still show as canceled. I called again and the woman said that it looked like “maybe” a credit card problem. I sighed and explained all of the above and that my credit card should not be the issue. She read over my account and said she agreed- there was a “glitch” in the system and she would forward all to management in the morning and the would call me by noon with a tracking number. SO….ordered on the 02/15/10 (one live chat, 2 phone calls) hopefully sent on 02/24/10??? We shall see. SO far…no too happy.
I love these. Ever since I got to Ramstein AFB, I have been smoking and now, these help me a lot. What I like about them the most is the way you can charge them on the go. All my friends still smoke and they usually laugh when I take out my new “cigs” but I know that I am doing it for a good reason.
The flavor is great! Plus getting 25 packs in a box of flavor refills is awesome.
I did some math and they say that 1 cartridge is about 16 cigs worth. There are 25 in a $25 package. So 25×16=400. That is 400 cigarettes!!! That is 2 cartons of cigs, which is about 70 to 80 dollars for only $25!!!
I’m sold.
There decent, but 150 puffs a cartridge is a flat out lie, these things lose there power quickly, but excellent product when in non smoker enviornment and needing a quick nicotine pickmeup
You may want to contact them, you may have a faulty unit. Mine seem to keep power quite well when compared to other e-cig brands I have tried.
I have been “analog” free since 2/22/2010 Thanks to Blu. While not a heavy smoker , I have smoked for over 20 years consistently and found it VERY hard if not impossible to give up the habit. Blu has allowed me to leave tobacco alone!! I have vaped in my house and in my cabin on a cruise ship without bothering my non-smoking S.O. The e-cig has been a blessing!! While I use the Blu, I buy carts from VolcanoEcigs because you can get 25 for 15.00 instead of 25.00 even more savings. I think its all a matter of personal preference but if you can…..use a e-cig its soooo much better. I buy extra batteries, carts, atomizers etc. to store away, I am afraid the FDA is going to discover what a fabulous product this is and then they will be 300-400 dollars!!! I never want to be without my Blu!!!
Good to hear flnikki, I’m glad you have had a good experience. Keep on Vapin.!
I have tried 15, that is correct, 15 of the top e cigs. The WORST is blu e cig for the following reasons:
1. They lied to me about when my order was shipped and I finally got it 1 1/2 WEEKS after they promised.
2. Their Bats last ten minutes or less, depending on how much you vap
3. Their flavors taste test out at the WORST of the bunch.
There is no reason to waste money with this brand. I can find no positive things to say.
I would recommend: Red Dragon, The Green Smoke, and if you want a blu like e cig that is 100% better, try Volcano (the top of their line).
Interesting…I don’t really smoke Blu Cigs much anymore as I’m a Green Smoke guy…..but that is dissappointing about their quality as well as customer service. Lying isn’t tolerated and you shouldn’t be in that position. When I dealt with them, long ago, they were pretty cool and I was happy with their service. The electric cigs I got from them were great, and it’s my #2 pick behind Green Smoke – a great value.
Is my comment wait moderation so that blu cigs can cancel it? The comment by AMY is exactly like mine. THEY LIE
I never had a problem with Blu’s customer service. I burned through way too many batteries and atomizers for my taste though. The bottom line is that Blu is for “social smokers” or “light smokers.” If you smoke less than 1/2 a pack a day, Blu is a good choice. But if you’re a heavy smoker, it just can’t keep up.
oh and each carteidge is only about one to two ciggarettes so i dont know how they came up with their math from blu cigs they are a complete mickey mouse joke of a company. trust me dont try to find out for yourself please listen to the negative comments because the good ones are probab one of the five people that work there getting paid to post comments all day.
Jay, we try to keep criticism constructive on this blog. I’ve never found your statements to be true. Can you please detail your troubles with Blu?
blu cigs are junk i am sorry i went to order mine and i had the same problems as the others they took forever promised thery would be out to me soon i finally got tired of watin after 2 weeks i tried one of my friends for college blu cig it was junk it didnt get much vapor it didn’t taste that good i decided to go and get a premium electronic cig and man i am so glad i did it got to me in the mail just 2 days after i placed my order and i quit smoking regular cigs the day i got it and i have been smoking about 2 packs a day for a lil over 3 years i am very fond of their menthol flavor but they have some other flavors as well i coppied their list and will post it here and it includes a link
i am very pleased over all with premium e cig i will not be smoking any more only vaping with my premium e cig o and they relay do have some prety sweet battery to pick from i got the platinum i like it lol there u go good price good product what else can u ask for and if you dont like it send it bk unlike blu they have problems with people not liking their product
I have tried several other brands of e-cigs, and keep coming back to blu, mostly because the battery-charging pack makes them so very convenient. Although I have had to send back both batteries and atomizers, I have always received the replacements within a week. I have never had a problem with their customer service. For those who have said they only get two hits per cartridge – simply remove all of the foil off of the insert and refill it with e-juice from one of the many suppliers out there. I think they just don’t put enough juice in their cartridges – but you get enough of them in the starter kit to last through many refills. I think blu is an excellent product, and have recommended it to many of my friends, who are also very happy with it.
First thing. I got my Blu’s in 5 days shipped free with detailed tracking info from usps. Why people would call daily to find out exactly where their shipment is, is beyond me. How about leaving them alone long enough to do their job? I’ve been smoking for over 10+ yrs. Waiting another day or so wasn’t going to kill me anyway. *cough*
Second thing. I’ve done some research. It seems like everyone is hell bent on taking the most massive crack hit possible. You can see their eyes bug out sucking in a drag. Truth is, taking a decent hit off a Blu can start to burn your throat (like an analog.) So, why is it that important for there to be tons and tons of vapor?
Conclusion. If you smoke like a normal person, the Blu’s have been adequate. If you intend on chain smoking and taking bong like rips off the thing, then yeah, go for the bigger more expensive ones. I find that the Blu’s fit my needs and I haven’t had the urge to go back to the traditional analogs.
Also, remember to remove all the foil from the end of the cartridges and give a couple quick primer drags before taking a deep one. The flavors taste pretty damn good!!!
I have been a smoker for 32+ years. I was a pack a day smoker before BLU, in March of 2010 I recieved my BLU starter kit with no delay. It came within the time frame promised. Since the day I received my kit I haven’t had a regular cig. I am also noticing that the longer I use BLU, the less I am using it. 50 cartridges were lasting me 30 days and now 50 cartiridges are lasting me a month and a half. Everywhere I go people are facsinated with the blue light and start asking lots of questions, I still go out in the smoking area to use it at so places and the other smokers all what the name and website. I LOVE BLU!!! I haven’t had any withdrawals or desire to go back to regular cigs. I can use BLU around other smokers and their smoke doesn’t bother me.
I can even smoke it in the car with nonsmokers with the windows up and they tell me they can’t smell a thing. It is also great when you are driving and it is raining….don’t have to roll the window down! Ignore the negative comments……it lookd like the real thing and will help you quit smoking!
I ordered the Blu and was eager to start vaping vs smoking. A week and a half passes before I try the live chat to see what the deal is. So, what seems to be a common problem with Blu… the black was an back order. So no problem, I take a weekend trip to Vegas, come back and try the live chat again….frustrated that they could not process an order in 2 weeks I cancelled and bought the Volcano, I put a rush on it and had it in 2 days and so far like the product. I’m still adapting to the vapor vs the smoke but so far so good. But Blu and their processing cost them an easy sale by not performing. I will highly recommend the Volcano…so far.
DS, thanks for that feedback. I am going to pass this on to the management of Blu Smoke. Do you mind emailing me a review of the Volcano Cigs? andygraysreviews AT yahoo.com. Would love to know your feedback.
ANDY
Thank you Bill NY. Very informative. Also, I find what you have to say funny. “If you’re looking for a simple switch and aren’t looking for a bong hit, then Blu’s are for you.”
Lol. I believe that has made my decision, because my order was taking forever but I feel better with the wait now. I’ll resubmit something once I get them and test them.
Just as a follow up, I’ve been on a purchasing spree with the money I’ve saved switching to Blu Cigs. For comparison, I began using the heavily recommended 510 and ego. While the consistency and battery life of these products have been better, the taste has taken a serious back seat. So out of curiosity, I started “screwing” with the accessories only to find that the Blu Cigs atomizers fit the usb passthrough and batteries of the 510 (including ego)! Not sure how or if this will impair the Blu’s atomizer in any way, but so far, I’m getting the Blu’s great taste with the benefits of the passthrough and battery life of the ego. (all of which Blu doesn’t offer as upgrades.) When it comes to taste, the Blu’s Johnson Creek e-juice is bursting in flavor (compared with the popular TW eliquid and 510 stock cartridges.)
Again, you can’t go wrong with the Blu Cigs starter kit. As for ordering times, I haven’t had much luck with other popular suppliers either. I guess you just can’t keep good products on the shelf for very long! Keep faith all!
I purchased blu in august 2010 and had no problem receiving my starter kit. I really like blu and my son was interested so I ordered the black starter kit for him. After two weeks i still had not received the order and was informed it was because part of the black starter kit was back ordered. So I canceled my ordered and reordered the white starter kit. I received it with no problem. I have two friends now that would also love to try blu due to my recommendation. I ordered two starter kits for them two weeks ago and have not received them yet. Now as of today I have not been able to access the web site! I wonder what is going on with this company and am rapidly losing faith.
Denise, do you have an order number? I can certainly look into this for you as my blog readers are normally taken care of quite well by Blu Cigs. I’m sure this is an isolated incident and if you want me to help you out, I can certainly email a contact I have there as they have been very supportive of my blog.
Andy
I was finally able to access the web site and my order still has not sent. It’s to bad that such a good product has such terrible customer service. =(
I do have an invoice number but not comfortable sending it out via a blog. I checked my account today and the status has changed to “invoiced”. Not really sure what that means. I work in a warehouse of approx 600 people and have been raving to everyone how wonderful blu is and when some one finally wanted to try them this is what happened. Not a good first impression.
Denise, I’ve sent you an email.
I ordered my blu over 2 weeks ago and still the order is on back order. At the time I placed it they told me it was in stock!
I called a few times to get my order status and had 3 different answers.
First they were going to ship it on Wed then it was maybe Friday or Monday..The guy told me that they got in the black ones and my order was next to ship at that point.
Today is Monday and now they are telling me they have no idea when it’s gonna ship.
I’m thinking about canceling my order at this point and going with another company.
I was hoping to get them in time for my upcoming vacation. I suppose 3 weeks was not enough time to expect an order considering they tell you it will ship with a few days. The website also lies and says the item you’re ordering is in stock!
If you are considering ordering from blu, keep in mind to give them a month for shipping. They actually lie to you when you call their customer service line so don’t bother with that!
I’ve never ordered anything from a company before that lies to you about when your item will ship. I asked the girl in their customer service if when I order refill cartridges they will also be “out of stock” and she said, “what do you mean”?
Then went on to tell me that their flavor cartridges are also out of stock..
This company only sells a few products…I wish I never would have ordered from them!
This heads up is great, I certainly appreciate this. I do not smoke Blu with any regularity, so I was not knowing these facts. It’s been posted a few times lately, so I will continue to do my best to inform consumers as to this issue.
By the way Green Smoke is still tops in my book – not once in their history have they had issues like this.
OK so I ordered my blu a week ago on the 21st of Oct. after finding out that the glue taste to my smokes was not due to my vitamins or medicine (I should have checked this out sooner) anyway I was gonna try to wait until my blu came and not smoke anymore of my cigarettes. Well that was a stupid thought. So I emailed them later that day to ask them when i could expect my order to arrive. While I didn’t expect them to arrive express delivery I am starting to wonder. This is the response i got back 48hrs later. unfortunately this is sounding all too familiar:(
Andy if you’d like to check on my order thru your contact at blu my order# is listed below and this is the number they assigned to my inquiry. LTK16605225164X.
Hello Nancy,
I’ll be happy to assist you with your inquiry. Your Order #100200283 is currently processing. Your order is currently on backorder because we are temporarily out of stock on an item included in your order. Due to a system error, the backorder notice may not have been on the site at the time your order was placed. I do believe that the notice was on the site for White – Full Flavor on 10/22/10 when your order was placed. We continue to receive new shipments and are actively filling orders, but we are unsure of the exact date of when your order will ship. When product arrives, we will fill the oldest orders first. All orders are processed in the order in which they were received. If you have further questions please let us know.
Nancy,
Wow. I’m officially adding an alert to all customers of Blu Cigs that during the month of October there were back-order issues. I’ve adjusted my rankings accordingly, and now advise consumers to buy either Green Smoke or The Safe Cig until this back-order issue gets fixed.
Thanks for letting us know – if I can help in any way, please email me.
Does anyone know if the green smoke cartridges work with the blu cigs??
Hi Denise,
You are best off using the Green Smoke Cartridges with the Green Smoke Electronic cigarettes. As many people agree with me, they are the best e cigarette company, hands down. Their customer service alone is worthy of awards.
Cheers,
Andy
I would like to buy green smoke but just purchased my blu in august and would prefer not to buy another ecig. Also green smoke is much more expensive. So if possible i would like to use the green smoke cartridges with my blu cigs, if that works.
Send me an email : info @ best e cigarettesreview.com
I’ll figure this out with you.
Cheers,
Andy
It took 2 and a half weeks for my blu cig to send. when i got it, it was alright. 2 days later it dies after one single drag. This will probably keep me from buying a different e cig. when i google these it just seems like a scam.
Mark,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Did you charge it for the full amount of time? that’s very important. If not, you could be hurting your own cause. Call them, they are usually quick to replace any faulty batteries. Trust me, these companies have 10′s of thousands of happy customers like me because these e cigarettes work. If you want me to intervene or help you out, just write me at Andy @ bestecigarettesreview.com

I wish I could’ve read this blog sooner! When I first tried to order blu (the black starter kit) about 3 weeks ago, there was some glitch with their website when I tried to pay. I just got a small pop-up window that said something like “transaction canceled/denied”. I had no idea why. So, I forgot about ordering them for a while, then I tried again and placed my order successfully on November 8th. Now, I know it’s only been three days, but my order still says ‘processing’ when I log in to check my status. Call me impatient, but I want to stop smoking ‘traditional’ cigarettes ASAP, and am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my blu. When I ordered it, however, it stated that they (black starter kits) were in stock. But it’s still ‘processing’??? That doesn’t process with me. I guess they are still back ordered/logged. Maybe they should start investing in more IT guys to improve the website to let purchasers know about backlogs and what not. But that’s just my $0.02
p.s. Great blog, by the way^^
Dave, thanks for your kind words. I try hard to keep this up to date and factual. I’ve removed several brands because they did not work. All the brands here keep improving, and I rate them based on experience.
IT is tricky for these companies due to growth. Literally, I know of three brands that ran out of inventory right away and had to scramble/back log new customers, which isn’t efficient and is avoidable with proper forecasting. But, I will say this industry grew faster than anyone’s wildest dreams, so it’s hard to fault people for growing.

I have now had my blu’s for a little less than 2 weeks…I would say I smoke about 2 carts a day…I have noticed that the batteries are already wearing out on them.
I pull them off the charger the moment they are done because if you don’t they drain within about a min…so you have to sit and watch the charger like a hawk…lol. I’m constantly charging and even after I fully charge one sometimes it dies before I even get to use it…I leave it sit in a place where it does not jiggle around because I noticed if you leave it in the pack it auto ignites the light and also drains the battery…If I could keep this thing charged and not be without my e cig it would be so much better…I really like it in general and it gives good vapor…Trick…once assembled take a paper clip and gently push the cart down through the suck hole…lol…did I just say that? It gets the juice closer to the atomizer…You get lots more vapor and it works great! The java jolt and vanilla flavors are sooo yummy! Is there a battery solution? Can I buy another kind of battery and put it in my blu?
Starr, you did just say that!
Pretty funny actually. As far as putting another battery in your Blu Cigs, I would avoid that. You may ruin the warranty if you do that. But that’s just my two cents, I can do some homework and get back to you.
Dave, I had the same shipping problems with blu…took almost a month to get and I was really anxious to get my new toy that would also help me quit smoking…My guess is that if they tell people that their product is on back order they will go somewhere else to buy their cig…also not telling you when to expect your order or when it’s going to be shipped keeps you hoping it will be soon…You think that if you cancel at this point and go with another company, you will have to wait longer…tricky…You get the feeling somehow when you call the customer service line that you are calling some top secret organization when they tell you that “They don’t tell us when orders come in” and “They don’t give us information about that”…lol….I’m sure the truth is that “They” just can’t keep up with orders due to the boom in e cigs…Plus, I’m guessing that they don’t carry stock….Ordering it from another place, like say China when they get enough orders…just a guess. You don’t have to pay tax on things that you don’t keep on a shelf. Smiles…I’m sure blu will get better with it…I’m sure they are slammed with orders. I’m vaping mine right now.
The elusive black one too…lol.
Thanks for the note, Starr. Yes, every brand faces this issue. Blu Cigs has been around a while too, so with their growth issues can surface. I’ve been in contact with them and apparently all back-orders are shipping November 15th.
well i still dont know what ecig to get for me and my wife i read all comments and im affaid of the blue but the money its not easy
Dale,
Try the V2 Cigs couples kit – you won’t be let down. Use code AndyG for 10% off.
Talk about a leap of faith. Done a lot of research and for the money I chose Blu and placed my order today. I hope it works!
Good for you! I truly hope it works out for you. Please report back how it worked out for you.
Andy
I ordered my Blu yesterday sometime around 4pm. according to my invoice it has already shipped. Also I wanted to say that I did try to put in an order last week and for some reason there system was very glitchy was not sure if my order had gone through or not so I talked to one of there live chat folks and was assured that it did not go through and my card was not charged.Kept a close eye on my bank account for a few days to make sure this was the case. so far the only grip I have is they said a would get an e-mail confirming my order and shipping and I never got those.
But will keep you posted on delivery and what I think of its performace once I get a chance to us it.
I just wanted to say that if you use the coupon code “gift” you can get the $60 starter kit for half off. I’m not sure how long this code will be active for, but I just did it and ordered my Blu for $30.
Yep, I was just apprised to this and have updated the review.
Use “Gift” and follow this link to blu:
http://www.bestecigarettesreview.com/go/BluCigs/
Gift coupon code no longer valid for blu
You are correct, I took it down, it was only a 24 hour deal. Is there somewhere on the site that still says it?
Sorry to hear about the Gift. I didn’t see it on the website, but didn’t explore it much myself. I was given the code by a friend who discovered it by google searching.
I came back to say that my order has arrived today and took exactly one week to get to me. I know others have experienced a back order recently and it may be key to note that I purchased the non-nicotine flavor packs with my order, which I’m sure are not as popular which could have lead to it avoiding backorder status. Nonetheless, I did get mine in an acceptable amount of time.
Also, looking at the website now, it appears the starter kits have increased to $69.95 with no change in the content you receive.
Just checked – that literally just happened this week. Thanks for the notice, I will change the price on the website. Good looking out Indie.
Well, I was going to buy this until I saw the price went up after I pushed “purchase”. You should really fix that so people don’t get the unpleasant surprise I got. Thing is, I would pay the new price if that was as it wa advertised, but it seems dishonest to me when it goes up $10 once I decide to buy it. Not good business manners guys…
Agree 100%. I emailed them. The raised price is confirmed.
Nat,
I’ll give you a few days to edit this and be a little more constructive with your criticism – care to elaborate? I’d appreciate it as short messages in all caps with no real substance don’t help people out there looking at e-cigarette reviews.
Andy
I ordered a Blu cig a while ago, and it was alright for a while, but eventually I became frustrated with the inconsistency of the vapor production and battery life. I found a great forum that really gave me some excellent information and advice, and eventually decided to purchase a Joye 510.
I have to say, I was blown away at the quality of the vapor production, as well as the consistency that it provides me after being used to the Blu. With the 510, you are also not limited to the small selection of flavors that Johnson’s Creek provides, and I have been purchasing e-juice from VaporRenu.com.
If you are serious about getting a reliable electronic cigarette, I would really look into the Joye 510 or eGo, as they offer much better overall quality than the inconsistent Blu cig.
Thanks Boiler. I’ll have to get a Joye 510 as a few people have posted good things about it. Most are over-promotional and I have to delete them but since you went into detail, I’ll let it slide. Thanks for the review.
I can assure you I am not a promoter, I’m actually just a college student at Purdue University. I would highly recommend you checking it out and writing up a review on it. I got mine from Rocky Mountain Vapor, but I have heard good things about people ordering them from CigNot as well.
With a disorganized industry like the e-cig industry, I feel that it is important for people to be made aware of the many options that they have when thinking about getting an e-cig, because it isn’t always the best marketed choice that is the best choice!
Boiler, thanks for coming back and clarifying your take. It’s all good!
Can you email me a link to Rocky Mountain Vapor? Perhaps that would be a good review for me.

I had been hearing about e cigs for a while, and after thanksgiving i finally decided to look into them, i stumbled across this site and learned all i needed to know, and inspite some bad reviews at the time i decided on blu cigs because the were in my price range… I first ordered on December 15th and because i didnt have enough money in my checking account my order via debit card was canceled (my fault). After ensuring i had enough money I reordered on the 17th and got them in my mailbox on the 20th, I was surprised. I love my blu cigs and see myself in time switching completly to vapor… The vanilla is thus far my favorate flavor. One problem i seem to be having is when I switch flavors, the vanilla seems to overpower all the other flavors, so I recomend that since you get 2 vaporizers use one of them for the menthol and tobacco flavor exclusivly or you wont get the vanilla out of the vaporizer. Another thing which was a plesant surprise to me was that when I called customer service there was no dialing numbers or long holds, i talked to a real person right away… that doesnt happen often in todays world… I called about the trouble in switching flavors and was advised to blow on the vaporisor untill i saw no vapor… yah didnt help but oh well, I may just order more vaporisors when i order more cartridges. Anyway I would totally recomend blu to everyone I know, and cant wait to show the members of my family who smoke, in a couple days. Happy Holidays everyone.
Blu sucks !!!! batteries dead, cigpack charger dead, save your money and dont buy this junk.Im sooooooooooooooo pissed
I received my blu cigs on 12/27 and have them ready to ship back tomorrow to get a refund (I hope.) To me, it was like sucking air. I usually smoke menthol ultra lights. Maybe I should have ordered full flavor because of the difference between vapor and real smoke. I never did get much vapor either. Then when changing to other flavors besides the menthol, I started getting liquid coming out the filter end through that little hole on to my lips..yuck! Don’t know if I should try a different type of ecig or not???
I’ve heard Blu Cigs have different models since i posted my review – I’m trying to confirm that now – any long term Blu Cigs smokers out there care to chime in?
I tried my friends the other day and I am now looking at this very seriously. I am a long time smoker and it really bothers my kids that I smoke. My question is…are any of these devices available to purchase at local stores? I really don’t plan ahead and fear I will run out and go back to the cigarette.
Hi Kellie,
Retail presence is quite thin right now. But the good thing is that the brands all ship (usually free) cartridges with ease. I prefer ordering everything online, and use sites like Amazon.com for household goods. Internet shopping for me is a life-saver. Trust me you can get packs of cartridges to last you for a while, it’s really not an issue.
Good luck to you!
I have been using blu for about 6 months now. I really liked them at first but have to agree with some other reviews in their inconsistency. Sometimes I get no vapor and then other times i get great vapor. Also I feel like they don’t say charged long enough. I feel like after a couple hours they are always needing to be re-charged. I use highest level nicotine cartridges. I have also had experience with the actual liquid coming out of the whole. It is not pleasant tasting that’s for sure. I am looking to purchase a better product as I really want to quit smoking but the inconsistency with blu has made this difficult.
I’ve heard rumors lately that Blu changed manufacturers, and the current quality is nowhere near where it once was. Note: these are rumors I read online, and I have not confirmed them. I do think Blu is an innovative product, but far from the best electronic cigarette out there.
Have you tried the BEST brands? V2, Safe Cig, Green Smoke?
I gave my 10 year old son a Christmas present he’s been asking for for a long time, me quitting smoking. I tried to quit cold turkey and failed. I am looking to the e-cigarette as an alternative and a way to help me quit smoking once and for all (I’ve tried the patches and they drove me nuts, I once quit smoking for 6 weeks thanks to Boot Camp, but started right up again as soon as my Basic Training was over). My Dad quit using nicotine reducing filters and was successful.
I’m rather interested in this technology and although I like smoking I don’t like the smell, etc. Would this be a good product to use as a way to gradually quit smoking or what other e-cigarette products would you recommend?
Thanks so much for your reviews and help,
Rebecca
This is the best thing you can use to have an alternative that still mimics the puffing, the action, and the urge. Many people, myself included, have stopped smoking cigarettes, even though these technically are not designed to do such a thing.
I just got the Blu e-cigs & I’m not super thrilled with them. The tobacco flavor definitely doesn’t taste like tobacco. You have to really suck on them to get even the slightest amount of vapor. Haven’t tried the other flavors in my starter kit but I’m addicted to tobacco and want something that tastes like tobacco. They’re also very end heavy so they’re hard to hold between your fingers. I bought this brand because they’re USA made & I heard many e-cigs are made in China & who knows what’s in them. They’re also the 3 part kind with reusable atomizers & I read that disposable atomizers are better with the 2 part ones because the reusable ones are breeding grounds for bacteria.
Andy, what other brand would you suggest? I need more vapor with less sucking required, less end heaviness so it’s not awkward to hold it between my fingers, more real tobacco flavor, disposable atomizers in each cartridge so as to not breed bacteria, and ones that are NOT made in China. I looked at the Safe Cig brand but there are ingredients in them that are weird crazy chemical names that I can’t pronounce. Blu also only has like 5 all natural ingredients so that seems to be important too. I’m willing to bet not one single e-cig has all of these qualities but I’d love to hear your input on which brands cover the most of these qualities as possible. I enjoy free shipping a lot too and V2 doesn’t have that quality, but I can overlook that.
More and more people are coming here stating they are not pleased with Blu. It’s obvious they changed manufacturers as the rumor went…..
I can fully back V2, GreenSmoke, and Safe Cig right now. Smoke tip not far behind. For Vapor, Green Smoke and V2 are off the charts if you aren’t interested in the Safe Cig. Depends what kind of smoker you are – let me know and I can be of further assistance.
With regular tobacco I smoke about 1 pack per day of Camel Light 99′s. And I’ve smoked the same kind for 15 years. So, I like that more robust tobacco flavor. Can’t stand Marlboro lights because they taste like you’re sucking on air in comparison. So, I’m a “full-time” smoker, not just a “when I drink” kinda person.
After playing with my Blu for the rest of the day yesterday, I’m not as dissatisfied with the vapor component. I learned that “harder” sucking doesn’t produce more vapor but if you draw slow and longer it does. Still not up to my expectations though. I tried the vanilla flavor and it’s just as awful. It doesn’t taste much different than the tobacco flavor…kinda like sweet burnt plastic. I realize I’m probably not going to find one that tastes exactly like Camel Lights, but I need something that tastes MORE like tobacco because I don’t think I’m going to be able to get used to these flavors. The flavor is just too sweet to remind me of tobacco. Another thing to note that I’ve noticed since last night is that liquid leaks out of the sucking hole sometimes…kinda annoying. I’ll ride out the rest of my starter kit to see if I get used to these things and/or change my mind about how I’m feeling about Blu right now, but I would appreciate if you could give me insight into some of these brands, particularly Green Smoke and V2 and any others you think may stack up regarding as much of the criteria I’ve deemed important to me in this and my previous posts. I appreciate your info and time.

I have been trying blue for the past 6 months and i have to agree with a lot of people the vapor doesn’t seem to be coming out all the time and the battery doesn’t seem to give enough power sometimes to produce vapor. I would like to switch to a new e cig but i am having a hard time trying to see which one would give me the best vapor like if i really am smoking a cig can anyone please help me with this? I would like to add i do get the one that don’t have n e nicotine in them does that make a difference on the vapor? thanks for any help!
Blu is quickly losing steam (pun intended) on this e-cigarette review blog. I may have to get a current blu device and see this for myself.
I read your review pages previously but hadn’t seen the videos. After watching the vapor performance it didn’t seem that much different from Blu. I guess it’s just an adjustment to go from oodles of smoke to more modest vapor. I went back to the Safe Cig website & found a page that details all of the ingredients so it seems there isn’t anything bad in there after all. I’ve asked a question about where they manufacture their products on facebook so if I like the answer I get there I may give them a try since it sounds like I’ll probably like their flavoring much better. I think I read somewhere in one of your comments that you thought they tasted the most natural to regular cigarettes flavor right?
Yeah. If you are a true smoker who likes the flavor of tobacco cigs, The Safe Cig is a great option. I can’t say anything bad about it.
hey andy, i have un uncle who has been smoking camels for a number of years and is very picky any sugestions?
Camel lights, crush, ? Let me know more details and I can make a suggestion or two.
As a habitual smoker (pack a day) I am very interested in quitting smoking. My friend gave me a kit of Blu Cigs about a year ago because he accidentally received two when he purchased one. I thought these e-cigarettes were pretty cool when I first tried them but came to the realization that this brand does not simulate smoking very well. The first couple of drags are good, but after that you don’t get any vapor and have to wait a few minutes for it to work again – Instead you get a bad taste in your mouth or nothing at all. The nice thing about these e-cigarettes is that it comes with a very durable pack to keep the batteries and cartridges, and charges your battery in your pocket. The only let down here is that if you leave the battery charging too long it will eventually suck all the power out and you’ll have a dead battery instead of a full one. In summary: I never really quit smoking because the experience wasn’t fulfilling, didn’t simulate real smoking, the flavors were inaccurate, and it was a hassle to use. I will be spending a little more money on a quality product that will hopefully help me kick the habit. Thanks for all the reviews!
Perhaps it’s because you used Blu Cigs. I used to like Blu Cigs, but in recent weeks a TON of bad entries have hit my blog and it’s apparent they are slipping on customer service and product design. I’m almost going to “not recommend” Blu Cigs as they obviously are worse than Green, Safe, and V2. But, some people swear by them, so they remain…..
Some big updates coming soon – gotta power through this work week and I’ll have some more stuff updated on the site.
Hi,
My bf is the one that smokes these blu cigs, when he first showed me the blu cigs i was all amused by them, i love that they dont look like a normal cig. After a while i noticed he would complain about them, he already replaced every single part of the cigs, the battery, the middle part that “burns” the gel in the tip, the usb charger stopped working so he bought a new one, the wall charger stopped charging. The cig leaks while in the case,(i think that with the movement of him walking or in the car) so he goes thru them faster because he is not smoking them, its just leaking and it smells so bad, like spoiled milk. One time he charged the cig and he didnt even put the tip on and we could see the light (on the tip) just blinking and blinking for like 2 days, then it stopped and the battery was dead. He has been using blu cigs for over a year now. He emailed customer service and they didnt seem to care, so now he is looking for another type of e-cigs, but now there is like 5 companies and he doesnt know which one to get.
Thanks, Dee
Green Smoke is the best brand out there, hands down. I’ve never had a single complaint with customer service. Go with the best…..
Andy,
I ordered up the Blu and Green Smoke starter kits. I am going to try both and let you know.

Just wanted to inform you that Blu has discontinued the Vivid Vanilla flavor pack, which just so happened to be my favorite. Does anyone know of an alternative that offers a lot of flavors? Ironically I started smoking on E-Cig and one reason was because of the flavor offerings. I’m not really into classic tobacco flavors. Menthol is ok as it has a hint of mint that I like, but the ones really out there are the ones I seem to prefer most (vanilla and cherry for Blu). I’m disappointed in how Blu is handling things. Even though I got mine on discount, the price raise and dropping of Vanilla are not cool at all.
On another note that my be related, I will also inform you that the Blu flavor cartridges now have an atomizer built in. Making it a two-piece process. Right now they are still listed at $12 a 5-pack on the website, but that could change any time.
Indie, thanks for the update. I was not aware of that as I haven’t made an order with Blu in ages. Although a rep is sending me a “new” kit. So my review will be updated, for certain. Seems like they are making a lot of changes as the people I used to speak with there were changing weekly it seemed. On another note, an owner reached out to me about their shake-up, seems they are just going through growing pains like every other e-cig company. But, they should keep customers happy, that has to be top priority. Hmmm…
Related to my last post, upon looking at the V2 site, it looks like they offer more flavors, along with the Cherry and Vanilla I enjoy. They are also getting Sahara Tobacco, Island Coconut, Banana Blast, and Classic-Cola soon according to their website. Looks like I’d enjoy some of those as well so I think I’ll give them a shot next.
For my money, no flavor on the e-cig market is better than the V2 Cigs Peppermint!
Note to all Blu Cigs customers:
Vivid Vanilla has been discontinued as a flavor option.
Regards,
Andy
Andy,
Thanks for the time you devote to this website. Will be looking forward to your review once you receive the “new Blu kit”. I am waiting for the new cartridges which include the anatomizer. Will give Blu one last chance. If not satisfied it will be time to try another brand.
Donna – sounds good. I’ll try to remember to email you when I get the new kit. Thanks for reading and for the comments. It’s nice hearing some feedback once in a while – much appreciated.
Cheers,
ANDY
Hi Andy ,thanks for doing the leg work on these E-cigs ! Question please : I smoke between 2 and 3 packs a day ,I have copd ,am 54 ,and my doctor has told me to try these e-cigs( anything to help me ) . In your opinion ,what is the best e-cig to try ? I have got to do something and quitting doesn’t seem to be in the cards for me . Thanks for caring / Michael…..
What is the cigarette you smoke? Also, what is “copd” ?
The new Blu Cigs are advertising a complete cartridge, with atomizer built in (something I loved about Greensmoke).
Have you tried them? I’m curious if they have done anything to increase their vapor and am hopeful these new cartridges will.
Tim,
I’ve got a kit en route – should be here any day. I’ll have an updated review out when it gets here. (As of now I’ve only had the old school version.)
I look forward to your updated review.
Up to now, however, which brand would you say produces the most noticable vapor? Specificially:
1) Which brand has the most visible vapor?
2) Which brand’s vapor has the most noticible taste?
Hi Tim,
I updated the review a tad after some initial tests. I will provide more details, and do a video review, hopefully later this week.
1. It’s really hard to tell. The manual V2′s sure do produce a cloud of vapor. BUT, with all brands, it vanishes quite rapidly, usually 2-5 seconds maximum.
2. I’d say the Safe Cig’s 24 mg.
I already have the blucig. I need to know how to order more cartridges. Thank you
I use the blu cigs and love them *now*. When I first purchased them, I had to draw harder then I liked, and the vapor was inconsistent, but I live them now that the atomizer is built in. The cartridges last a lot longer, the flavor is better, and you can pull on them as you would a real cigarette. Being as my husband and I just recently bought these, I’m very happy we didn’t have to deal with the old atomizer system for too long, as I can see that being very frustrating.
As far as flavors go, my favorite is the cherry, but the java is good, too. My husband uses the classic tobacco or menthol; the menthol being nice because it isn’t overpowering. All in all, i’m glad we stuck with it now that they’re improved, and the fact that they’re made in the USA (main reason we initially went with them(.
Yep, They are new and improved. Waiting patiently for my new Blu Cigs so I can update my review. Sounds like they are quite the upgrade!
I have been using blu cig for about a year. It works okay I recently bought a starter kit for my wife. She was excited when it arrived until she found it was missing the extra cartridges she ordered. (cherry crush) When we called customer service we got a very rude black women with a lot of attitude. She kept acting ke we were trying to get soeting we haven’t paid for. It was enough for me I will gladly send it all back. I have found a better e cig and don’t have to order it and wait foorever for it to arrive in the mail. Product is not worth the trouble if your looking at buying from blu cig DON’T I won’t
I have tried the BLU and Green Smoke e-cigs over the last three weeks and Green Smoke blows the BLU product away!! Better vapor, better battery length, the wall charger and USB charger are much better quality. The cartridges are consistent with taste and vapor production. BLU had all sorts of issues during my trial. Lousy vapor, battery always went out and needed recharging. The charging pack would turn on the battery once it was charged while I was storing it. It seems like a really cheap product. I will send the BLU back tomorrow and stick with Green Smoke. It is a great product.
I’m looking for a good e-cig that’s easy to take a draw. I tried Green Smoke and returned it because it seemed that I had to take such a hard draw on the cigarette to make it work and found myself just putting it aside and going back to real cigarettes. I’m sick of the smoke and what it does to our lungs. Help – has anyone found the right one?
Blu has terrible customer service. My fiance and I just ordered 2 starter kits with classic tobacco, cherry crush, and Java Jolt. We were excited to open it and try them until we found that they had not sent ANY of the flavor cartridges. When I call they act like I am trying to get something for free, but I’m the one out money. We called in a missing items order which they denied based on supposed package weight. So now I’m sitting here with two starter packs and zero cartridges. $150 dollars for two boxes that I can’t use. They just sit there on the shelf. I’m pissed. Don’t bother with BluCigs. Find someone with better customer service.
Hey Matt,
This is the first “anti Blu Cigs” comment I’ve seen in ages. Has to be an isolated incident – can I help in any way?
I am not digging on Blu Cigs new slogan I recently saw on a pop up ad. “Don’t quit” is how it starts and continues with propaganda to convince people to swap over to blu cigs rather than quit nicotine altogether. Slogans like that are not going to help the battle to keep e-cigs legal.
People interested in cessation or a healthier form of nicotine delivery should do some reading at one of the major e-cig forums in addition to this site.
Most of the ecigs on these reviews are available at half the price without the marketing. It would be nice to see some reviews on big battery ecigs such as joye eGo, screwdriver, riva 510 (no name eGo), and perhaps a tank system or 2.
Have a great one!
Jeremy,
I have a Joye eGo review listed right here:
http://www.bestecigarettesreview.com/joye-ego-review/
I can’t comment on the Blu Cigs marketing as I haven’t seen that one – where did you see it? I’m all for “legal” marketing – these devices are so awesome you don’t need to get in legal limbo to grab attention.
Thanks for coming by Jeremy, come back soon.
I have been ‘vaping’ blu cigs since December 2009, and I am quite shocked at some of the comments I’m reading here. Even before they improved their cartridges in January, I was enjoying the heck out of blu, but I’ll have to admit I am much more satisfied with the upgrade (one piece cartridge/atomizer).
From what I have heard, blu did have some problems with delivery for their first year or so, but I haven’t heard of any of that in a long time now.
I haven’t tried any other brands, so I’m not here to trash any of them, but I am truthfully so thankful that I tried blu to begin with. I haven’t smoked even ONE cigarette since the day I started vaping.
Also….
I have NEVER had one problem of any kind with blu’s customer service or representatives-
My ecigs and everything else I order from them, ALWAYS arrive in a surprisingly short time-
The new cartridges consistently have much MORE vapor than the previous ones did-
I went from smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day to vaping ONE cartridge a day, SAVING me a ton of money over smoking.
I’ve been thrilled with blu cigs for over a year now, and I hope everyone else finds an electronic cigarette that they’re content with as I have!
Jo Ann
Hi Jo Ann-
Thanks for dropping by. A lot of stuff to reply to so let me make some points.
1. Any bad PR or reviews for Blu Cigs is typically from the old three piece design which Blu Cigs no longer sells. Also, the shipping problems referenced are usually describing a scenario that happened in 2009. Obviously now Blu Cigs is a debatable best selling brand in the USA, having done 30 million in sales last year according to a recent report. I haven’t heard of any shipping issues with Blu Cigs since 2009 and they remain a top selling brand. I have nothing bad to say about Blu Cigs and I like the small size of their e cig from time to time. Cherrry Crush is delicious, not for nothing.
2. Customer Service reviews are mixed. I had to peruse comments and some people don’t like them – while others do. Personally I haven’t had issues with their support.
3. Congrats on not smoking a single analog cigarette since switching to Blu.
I’ll also ask you this – are you going to be getting the new Smart Pack by Blu Cigs in June?
Thanks again!
AG
I love love love my Blu Cigs…. I have only been “smoking” electric cigs for a little over three months. I truly believe they are a miracle!!!! I have smoked 1 – 11/2 packs per for almost 24 years. I have never been able to quit and have been a slave to cigarettes since i was 17 years old! I bought a disposable Ecig and a mini-mart, tried it and threw out my best friend and worst enemy “Marlboro Lights” the next day. I have to say that I really didn’t like the taste of this disposable Ecig, but it worked!!! I immediately got online and began researching Ecigs and found this site. I must say – it is the most informative and has really helped me on my journey to find the best Ecig for me..
I ordered some starter kits that fit my budget, Green Smoke, V2, Premium and Blu … (hey, if i am going to change my life I want to have all my options fully researched…)
Premium came first… great draw but way too sweet, even the tobacco..
V2 came next and I feel they area better version of Premium.. I do like the “congress” carts.
Green Smoke – I couldnt wait!!! Reviews are so positive. I hated them! I think every “flavor” tastes the same. They are heavy and I really has to suck to get the vapor… Big Dissapoitment!! I gave them to my cousin, he used them for two days and is still smoking analogs.
Then I tried Blu… I’m hooked!! They taste great – love java jolt and tobacco, both are very smooth. But I must say, Cherry is the best!!! I love to smoke Cherry after meals – it’s like dessert!!! Super easy draw, tons of thick vapor. I little draw immediatly followed by a nice long draw is how I like to smoke them. Awesome!!!
Battery Life is short, but with the Blu Pack you always have one charged so it really doesn’t matter.
Very Convienent, Very Economical and Very Very Good…
I LOVE my Blu. Been using for a few months now. Completely satisfied. Not sure what everyone Else says. Never had a problem with customer service or any of my orders.. the only complaint I have is bring back vanilla bean..please! Thanks for listening
I bought a starter kit as a gift for my wife and it was missing the flavor cartridges. She contacted customer service 5/20 and was told she would get them sent to her. Today 5/23, I recieved an email saying exactly this: “Your missing items request has been denied. The package weight indicates that all of the items in your order were shipped out.” I called customer service and was told there was nothing they could do , fulfillment dept has the last word. I asked if I could speak with someone in fulfillment and was told they don’t take phone calls. It’s unfortunate that for all the glowing reviews on many sites, that this company doesn’t appear to care about new customers. My wife would have liked to try this product out but because they refuse to send us what we paid for we are not going to continue to be customers.
Hi Derek,
Really sorry to hear this. I’ve been hearing good things about Blu as well and personally never had any issues. In fact I was under the assumption that they ramped up support in anticipation of the new Smart Pack. Let’s all keep our eyes and ears open and ensure they are taking care of customers. If I can help you in any way, just holler.
i ordered Blu , within a week of recieving my starter kit 1 of my batteries stopped. I called customer service, and got informed I had to mail back faulty battery. customer service was just kind of rude. plus it took over a week to recieve the kit to begin with. so i would have been with only 1 battery for over 2 weeks! also I ordered java jolt with the menthol, and cherry (2 java,2 cherry 1 menthol) the java infiltrated all the other flavors! I disliked the flavor of the Java bolt so much, and everything had that flavor. so i am sending Blu back went to V2 had my order within 3 days! has lifetime warranty on product…love v2 customer service! V2 for ever!
First I would like to say thanks to you, Andy!
This site of yours is well kept and very handy to a new person entering the world of e-cigarettes.
So I ordered my Blu May 24th 2011 and if you were to know me, it would come to no surprise that I started reading reviews AFTER I ordered.
At first I was reading reviews on the older model Blu and thought to myself, why did I order that!
Every other review just about, touches on the customer service of Blu and how bad they are. Since I read all these horrible things combined with, not trying a Blu out made for some bias thoughts. So a few days ago I wanted to make sure things are going the way they should, wanted to log in to the site to check the order and see what the status was because no email was sent yet saying it was being shipped. My password was not working, and email’s to reset were not being dispatched.
Now I started thinking to myself, here we go!
So I called them to reset it and get my order status at the same time. The lady was real nice, American to add
, and told me the Blu was sent out. WOW! I thought, this cannot be the same company I just read all these bad reviews on, and shook it off. Well now today, exactly a week after I ordered, the status on the USPS website says that its out for delivery. I ordered the starter kit, black, with Java flavoring and highest concentrate of nicotine.
So far I am very pleased with the Customer Service side of the business.
The price is reasonable and the price for refills is good too.
I will come back to update on the Blu’s performance after some usage. To be accurate I want to spend as much time with it before coming back

Hi Andy,
Its me again, I feel I had enough time with the Blu to say its exactly what I expected.
The only cons I see, is that it needs time to “warm up”. So I take a small drag to get it going, then exhale, and then the next few are good, full hits.
Another Con, is I am a heavy smoker, so I like to hit it a few times, I found its easier to hold in my teeth because it is heavy, The carts get hot after a few hits and does kinda burn the lips. Other wise I enjoy the Java flavor, I have the Reg Tobacco ones in the mail.
The batteries are not the greatest, but with the charging pack and if you think ahead you will always have a charged one, so no worries.
This is working as expected, and I will be buying a green smoke next paycheck, then I will have something to compare each too, then I can give my wife one and we can kick our analog problem.
Well once again thanks for your site, its help me understand and gain knowledge in this dark market.

I’ve had my blu cigs for a few weeks now.
Nice product. Sadly their shipping service has caused me to rethink purchasing them. It takes as long as 3 or 4 days for them to get around to shipping your order. So if you paid for overnight delivery, you’ll get it the day after the 3 or 4 days for them to get around to your order. Also, their shipping options are limited to fedex and some other strange thing called bluelight which takes forever. Companies forget that some of us don’t have fedex friendly addresses like P.O.Boxes so our only option is that other shipping system. I’m not sure if I’m willing to continue ordering a product I’ll have to wait as long as 10 days for in the future.

As a first time user of e-cigs I started with BLU about 3 months ago. I recently switched to V2 and I am very happy with the switch.
BLU was nice to start with. I started with them because they had juice made in the US. BLU soon prooved to not be a great product. I willl say that their customer service was very good. However, that did not outweigh the cons. Their cartridges are very inconsistent. Some would draw great, most would not. Some would last a while, some would not even last one round of use(10 drags or so). I also found myslef losing breath just trying to get a drag. Some would over heat very quickly. I received quite a few duds. The issues between cartridges became very annoying. Some would actually hurt my throat, and I was a heavy smoker before switching. Their batteries do not last very long and stop working pretty quickly. I returned three within the first two months of ordering them. I will say that BLU was very quick to replace them. Their mailing system is not the best either. While free, they use a service outside USPS that makes the mailing process take even longer. They have to go though their service locations and then to USPS. Product changing hands to many times.
I feel I gave BLU a fair shot. My switch to V2 has been great. I ordered their ultimate starter pack with all the gizmos. I could not be happier. Much easier to use, batteries last longer. The draw is so much smoother and the vapor is much more consistant. I will say that I enjoyed BLU’s flavor a bit better, but I have not tried all of V2′s yet. I will take a weaker flavor over the inconsistent flavors anyday. For any beginners, I would reccomend starting with V2. Plus they offer way more discounts.
If you are thinking about a switch from real smokes, YOU SHOULD. I have not turned back since I quit and no the thought of a real smoke prety much makes me sick. It was hard for the first month, but that desire to go back is completely gone. I hope this helps someone out there thinking about switching.
I just checked Blu website – the vanilla flavor is back!!!!!!!!!
What is the Smark Pack? Thanks!
Well I’ve had mine for only two days now and beig a heavy smoker,I really so enjoy this. I’ve let my friends try it and got some of them actually saving up to buy one. Flavors are delicious and the smell is also fantastic, I do wish the methol was alot more mentholy but nothing to really get butt hurt about. Also with the shipping problem I would say just go to HEB(if your in Texas) or some places similar because that’s where I found mine. So far it’s been great and I don’t see how it can go bad. Seems like a lot of people might be jumping on the bandwagon of anti-blu that already exsist, granted I’m sure if you pay more for a different one you might get something better but for it’s price blu is amazing and very appealing to use. I say go for it if you want something cheaper or under a budget.
I write this review for those for whom the “e-cig” is a tool for quitting analog cigs. Everything here is in reference to the NEW (two part) system and NOT the old three part system. That distinction is crucial.
I am NOT, in any way shape or form, associated with or paid by any e-cig company or organization. I’m just a smoker trying to kick the habit. Just getting that out there…
I ordered the Blu starter pack + one extra five-pack of carts about two weeks ago. As others have said, the shipping did take a bit long for my taste–it took over a week and a half–but indeed it is free. The package arrived on Saturday the 23rd of July (2011). I am writing this on Tuesday the 26th of July. Here’s what came in the package:
* Starter kit (charger pack, 2 batteries, wall charger, USB charger, directions)
* Two small boxes of carts (one comes with the kit, the other I purchased as indicated above). Each box contained five carts. They claim one cart = approx. one pack of cigs (~250 puffs). I was a heavy smoker, so the “puff” estimate is just that–a VERY subjective estimate.
****Note that the starter kit and the carts were physically separate in the package.**** In fact, the starter kit box says something to the effect of “no tobacco or nicotine products contained in this box.” There is apparently a legal issue here so the kit itself contains no nicotine. So if you order the kit and do not get your carts–I have read complaints about this here on this website–this is most likely the reason. The carts do NOT come in the box with the rest of the kit, no matter what. They are separate, but within the same shrink wrap packaging from “Streamline.” For those with complaints, it sounds like the company left the carts out of the shipment–and not the starter box kit where they would never appear anyway. I didn’t have this problem (thank goodness), but given the haphazard packaging from Streamline, I could see how others would indeed have this problem.
Here is my objective feedback for the benefit of anyone reading this:
* My objective in ordering this was entirely singular: QUIT my 17.5 year, 1.5+ PAD habit smoking “analog” (i.e. “real”) cigarettes. Did it work? YES–so far. I have not smoked an analog since the product arrived and I charged the batteries beyond the factory (25% or so) charge. Do I still desire an analog? Oh yes. Has this product kept me from wandering that dangeous road again? Yes, it has. Will that continue? I don’t know, but I have hope.
* Does this taste like a cigarette? (I ordered the “Classic Tobacco” flavor @ full strength): NO. But how could it? The taste is not all that bad—somewhat like slightly burned popcorn. But it’s not anything like tobacco. If you smoke and love the “taste,” this will probably be an issue for you with this particular brand. But I have no other brand with which to compare it.
* The batteries do run out fast if you drag hard on this. But the brand (famously) has many options for charging. If you keep one of the two batteries charged, you’re good. You can buy another (3rd) battery on the website and the price is reasonable.
* Hard core smokers: There are four very small rectangular holes where the gold band is between the cart and the battery. PUT YOUR FINGERS OVER these holes if you want increased vapor / strength. It works, but it will put quite a toll on your battery and the device does heat up a bit. It may burn the device up in the end, but it’s worth it for me as long as I stay away from analogs.
* If you, like me, are using this to get off analogs, be careful if this is your only e-cig. Given the long shipping time, you have to think ahead and buy more carts lest you run out. If I were to run out of carts before more arrived, I do not think I could keep myself from returning to the dark side, i.e. analogs. The company would not recommend it (for obvious reasons), but I hear one can refill an empty cart. Many videos about this are available online.
I hope this is helpful to someone out there trying to kick analogs.
Wow, what a great Blu Cigs review. Thanks for going the extra mile – we need more people like you. Thanks so much!!!!
I’ve been using BLU since Dec 10. I’m thinking of changing but can’t decide on a different brand. I already have alot of money invested in the BLU. I enjoy the Cherry Crush, all the other flavors seem to not make as much vapor/ hit as good, or runs out of flavor much quicker than the Cherry. I have 5 batteries, I use 3 at a time and keep two spares. I have sent about 5 back for replacement, and always receive a new one within a week. My main problem is sometimes I grab a new Cart and it doesn’t last more that a couple of hours, and then others will last all day. For this reason I feel like I’m wasting money. To only get a couple of hours out of a $2 cartridge is disappointing. But from reading alot of the reviews on this website it seems to be a problem with all e cigs currently. Thanks for this site and the involvement you have in reviewing ecigs.
Rob,
If you like Flavors, I highly recommend V2 Cigs. Read my review here:

Someone out there has to be able to tell me which carts are refillable. I just got my first “South Beach Smokes” and have only had 8 analog cigs in 2 days. This is a miracle, having smoked for more than 45 years, .75-1.5 PAD.
I can’t afford fancy refills and automatic drop-ship is a drag. (Yup) Are the refillables only the 3 pc, or can the 2pc. be filled, and how without breaking the cart? Sorry, but I need step by step.
You can google “refilling (your brand) carts” and using liquid and watch youtube videos on how to do it all.
I just love my new Blu cigs and so far have nothing but great things to say about them. First I got my Blu starter pack in 5 days and would have been 4 if I had ordered on monday, so for me the shipping was really good given it was the USPS. When I got it I opened the kit and started to charge one as I went to vape with the other. The e-cig works great with good throat hits and even better vape hits, really its as good or better than my reg. cigs. The batteries last a good while for me, about 12 hours so half a day is good. The carts last for about 200 to 230 hits so basically how long they said it would. The only thing that I can find to pick at is that its kinda sensitive to wind or if you move it around fast. When you go out you should use the pack so it wont drain the batt. to fast. All in all this is a great product and since I’ve had it I haven’t smoke a reg. cig and that right there is worth it enough for me.
For those who are looking to refill carts, Blu isn’t a good brand to choose for that. I was tired of the vaping the 5 flavors for 8 months, plus wanting to save a little more money. I was using about 1 1/2 carts a day. I tried refilling the Blu’s would have about 2 out of 10 work correctly. Andy referred me to V2 a couple of emails back, for there selection of flavors. I bought the power cig they offer, and there sampler pack to give them a try. I really didn’t like the taste of any of the flavors they had. I thought none of them were as good as the Blu cherry. I then tried to refill thier carts and it has worked out great. Much easier than refilling blu’s, every Cartomizer I’ve refilling has worked great. Finding a good vendor of e liquid was the next difficult part. I started buying 1 bottle from different companies until I found something that satisfied my taste. And now with V2 I’m able to really enjoy the flavors that are out there.. even the Blu cherry (my favorite for months) doesn’t compare to what I’m able to get. And it’s alot less expensive . Currently using a blueberry cheesecake.. so good. Thanks for the recommendation Andy.
I treid blu it took 2 weeks to get it. I was very excited, but it was like smoking air!!!! I was very disappointed to say the least. Furthermore, I went ahead and ordered 2 boxes of cartridges with my starter kit in order to have a full supply and receive free shipping, otherwise I would of had to pay shipping and wait for the cartridges for two weeks. When I sent everything back including of couse the two extra cartridges boxes they sent the cartridges back and said I could not return them so now I am out 22 bucks What the heck am I suppose to do with them I no longer have the e cig so I just threw 22+ bucks away!
Blu Cigs are absolutely terrible. The product itself never works properly, constantly losing charge, needing to be sent back to be replaced every 2-3 months. The send cartridges without any juice in them. The smoke juice is the BEST but that’s NOT BLU’S. That’s Johnson Creek. You can buy the juice off their site. Find another e-cig because this one is crap. Not to mention they have the worst customer service in the world. Their answer for everything is ‘wait’ or ‘it’s you fault, not ours’. They constantly send packages to wrong addresses and gets lost in the mail just about every time you place an order. (It can’t be the postal service if it happens every time and only with this company.) They make up excuses every time and make you feel like garbage. This is not just me either. I got several people started on blu’s and they’ve all had the same problems and have also stopped using them. People need to know how terrible they are, and find a better alternative. (They’re also going around and having their own people comment on sites talking them up, so don’t believe it.)
Just an FYI for those that don’t know and don’t want to wait on shipping….there’s a store locator on Blu’s website. Put in your zip code and it’ll list everything available. Almost all Walgreens carry the disposable ones but I consistently find stores with starter kits, cartridges and disposables wherever I’m at. I travel the country with my job so ordering by mail isn’t really an option for me. Their store locator hasn’t let me down yet….and I’ve never once had to deal with their customer service which is apparently a plus.
Great suggestion, Richard. Thanks for sharing!
I had Blu in the past and I was pretty satisfied before now. This year I got a new starter kit for my boyfriend and I, extremely disappointed in where they headed. The batteries do not last near to 100 puffs, but that may be because I have to drag hardcore on it to get any smoke. The Cherry Crush ones seem to be the only flavor that has smoke when I puff it. Even though I like the flavor, I don’t like that it’s the only decent flavor that produces any kind of smoke. I feel like they half-ass fill the cartridges. They never last 300 puffs, not even close. The product is terrible, I do not recommend it at all anymore. Tonight, I just had a cartridge that was brand new and didn’t produce any smoke whatsoever. I wasted a whole battery trying to get it to go and it never happened. I put in another new cartridge and that worked immediately. So I got ripped off one cartridge, definitely not worth the $12 for the cartridge pack. That’s not even all…. one of my batteries, not even a couple months old, is already deteriorating and not working properly. The light just kind of goes out and it stops working, it doesn’t even need charging. Which is yet another problem. Even the charger pack isn’t working, again not even a couple months old. It’s not charging batteries nor does it seem to be charging when it’s plugged in. Another problem is the USB charger. I have to plug it in, unplug it, plug it back in over and over because it doesn’t always charge a completely uncharged battery. I have double checked everything, I treat all of my products very well, everything says Blu is responsible. It is their product that is just awful. I’m going to call them tomorrow and speak to a manager to make sure they take back the cartridges I ordered a couple of days ago because I have had enough fighting with their horrible product. I’m shocked they’re so well known and get good reviews. I’ve had nothing good to say about them since I got these new starter kits. I’m returning it and taking my money elsewhere. What a waste of time.
I ordered my starter kit on Sunday, October 2nd, and it arrived the following Saturday. I have since not smoked a single real cigarette, and can already tell a huge difference. No headaches, no crazy heartbeat, and my sense of smell is already coming back. I’ve been smoking for over ten years and have never went this long without one, even at times when I’ve been deathly ill. This stuff works, and I’m quite happy with my Blu pack. Fantastic price, good product, and the company seems to actually care, which is rare.
While I can only comment on the Blu disposables, which I have enjoyed. I am upset to find out that they have sold out to Lorillard, makers of Newports, to the tune of $135 million.
Big tobbacco is either going to use its limitless resources to improve our beloved products or liquidate them from the inside out.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em I guess…
This e-cig is on my don’t buy list for sure. The first thing is the charge pack does not work. The batteries are hit or miss. One of my batteries last for about 20 to 30 hits. The cartridges are very inconsistent and do not last very long. There is a burning inside the cartridge, it heats up burns your lips and the vapor when this happens burns your throat. If you take apart the cartridge you will see that there is some burning and that can not be good. Not sure if they will let me put this on here but I did a full review with pictures on youtube. if this is not ok, sorry just take it off.

Scott,
Thanks for your contribution. Everyone wants a “blu cigs review” because there is no denying their presence and market share. I agree, in comparison to other brands, they aren’t close to the same in battery life, taste, etc. Your link is helpful, so I’ll leave it for others to see.
Customer service is terrible, but the flavor is 100 times worse. Now I’m stuck with a useless $59.99 product since I can’t stomach the horrible flavor of Blu (I tried all 4 flavors that came with the starter kit). I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. There are better products out there.
Scott (and others),
Thank you for your in-depth reviews and have had the same experience with the inconsistencies and poor taste. My charge pack was just as faulty, as well. I didn’t even care to contact customer service and return anything. I just wanted out. It was pretty awful. I went back to Safe Cig, despite my issues with them. I am in search of my new brand and awaiting a South Beach delivery. I will keep trying until I find the right fit for me! Hope you all can find the right one for you, but, likely, Blu is not going to be it.
Hollie,
Try Bull Smoke. They have their kits for $29 for a limited time. (MSRP is $74.99). Their service is spectacular, and you’ll find all the same great battery options your accustomed to.
Robert, thanks for your comment. As you know I’m always trying to better this blog. I have personally never had a problem with Blu, and do recommend it to any new vapor smokers because its’ so reasonably priced.
