The Electronic cigarette is the most innovative, debated, and misunderstood product I’ve seen in my lifetime.
The misinformation being spread drove me crazy, so in 2009, I started this informational site to help clear the air on many of the misconceptions. In the process, I’ve built up a HUGE community here and have turned this website into an electronic cigarette review database as well as library of information where you can read peer reviews and see how consumers feel about the brands, the technology, and the e cigarette reviews I post.
I’m Andy Gray, and along with my trusty team of electronic smokers, we’re sharing our e-cigarette reviews with you and helping you find the best electronic cigarette. There is no debating that vapor cigarettes are here to stay, and I pride myself in giving you the SCOOP on news in this evolving industry. This blog is by consumers, for consumers, so please use the discount codes I’ve provided should you decide to make the switch to smokeless cigarettes!
If you think I am an “average Joe,” you are CORRECT. A consultant by trade, I quit smoking cigarettes in 2009 with the help of electronic cigarettes. When I quit smoking, my life changed. Naturally, I decided to increase awareness and created a blog about e-cigarette reviews. Quickly after, the media picked up my website and deemed me an electronic cigarette expert. My views on electronic cigarettes have been published in more mainstream media than anyone in the industry.
You can see my comments routinely in the LA Daily News, Minneapolis Star & Tribune, BusinessWeek, ABC & CBS affiliates in Chicago, Philly, New York, Houston, (plus dozens of smaller markets), Sign On Sand Diego, as well as Yahoo! Finance, and the Financial News Radio. For a full list, click here: Andy in the news.
Import notice to consumers – under each e cig brand and respective page on this website, there are areas where you can leave comments and ask questions. With over 1,500 total comments and you’ll see this site is the best place to interact with me and other consumers so you can truly find best products. Check back daily as we are all here to help!
Hot New Product: V2 Cigs Produce More Vapor, are My Current Best Electronic Cigarette
One of the latest brands of Electronic Cigarettes I had the pleasure of trying was the V2 Cigs E-Cigarette. Let me tell you, that each time a new brand comes along, I always anticipate a letdown. V2 cigarettes were far from a letdown, and in the 11 months I have used them, I keep looking at the progress this company makes and my jaw drops further each and every time.
If you didn’t read my full review, you should, it’s posted here: V2 Cigs Review.
If you follow my link below and use “AndyG” as a code, you get 10% off all V2 products.
If you are just looking for the main details of this brand and want to remain on the home page of my e-cigarette review blog so you can compare to other brands, I’ve outlined the details below. This is the brand I prefer at the moment, but I’ve had success with other brands which you can read about on this site and people have different preferences, so be sure to read all e-cig reviews.
V2 Cigs Discount Code: “AndyG”
You have to follow this link for it to work: V2 Cigs Coupon Link
Use that at checkout to save 10% off all purchases!
The Standard Kit offered by V2 is sold for $74.95, which is a fair price for e-cigarettes, and on the cheaper side if anything. If you decide to purchase the V2 starter kit, here is what is mailed to you.
- Choice of 2 white or black batteries, one manual or automatic, (in standard, shorty, or extra long lengths)
- Charger with combo cord and USB charger
- Wall adapter & Users Manual
- Choice of two five packs of flavored cartridges & strengths
While I don’t mind sampling flavors once in a while, I am not a big flavor guy other than menthol. Accordingly, I chose Congress Tobacco and Menthol with my V2 Starter Kit. If you are a frequent smoker and like these tastes, you’ll probably be happy with these ones as they really simulate smoking.
If you are more of a social smoker or just like flavors once in a blue moon, here is the list of their 8 available flavors: Cowboy Tobacco, (which is similar to Marlboro), Congress (which is similar to a Parliament) Vanilla, Coffee, and Cherry.
Note: New flavors are now available: Peppermint, Chocolate, Sahara, and Cola!
You get two choices of e-cigarette cartridge flavors and strengths (2 x 5 packs) when you buy the V2 Standard Kit.
I’m quite happy with this brand, and I’m very picky when it comes to e-cigarettes. The company sells a lanyard, which can be worn around the neck to keep the e-cigarettes safe and handy, which stoked me because as a runner, I like to reward myself with a nice vapor puff after each 5k journey I embark on. I also think the switch to e-cigarettes will help me finally complete my goal of running a marathon.
If you are unsure about spending $74.95, there is an Economy Kit offered at $59.95, that arrives with all you read about above but only one battery. If you are a social smoker and don’t need all the stuff of the first option, this gives you a better price point at which you can enter the vapor smoking revolution at a discount rate.
Lastly, V2 offers an option for those of you who are active in travel. (V2 Travelers Kit.) It’s essentially the first kit I talked about, but with more cartridges (15), a car charger, and a portable charging case that keeps the kit intact as you travel and lets you charge on the go.

Overall, V2 Cigs is impressive, innovative, and perhaps the fastest growing brand of e-cigarettes as of this month, but be sure to check on other e-cigarette reviews as your situation (hardcore smoker vs. social smoker) may be different from other peoples. Thanks for reading my e-cigarette reviews, and please leave comments in the comment section. I read and reply to them daily in an effort to help everyone find the best electronic cigarette.
V2 Cigs also features a unique Customer Referral Program known as “Smoke For Free.” Basically, all customers receive a coupon code with their 1st order, along with cards to pass out to friends and family. With this coupon code, any referrals receive 15% off V2 starter kits, and the customer receives a $15 credit to their store account, which can be used to purchase additional V2 merchandise. Essentially, you can get free cartridges and “smoke for free” by referring others!
Thanks for reading the V2 Cigs review, and special thanks for V2 Cigs for offering my blog readers the “AndyG” a whopping 10% off discount for all items. Occasionally we get more V2 Cigs discount codes so join my mailer if you want updates.
Electronic Cigarette Review of the month: Bull Smoke Electronic Cigarettes
Bull Smoke has become quite popular – I agree that it’s a unique offer one can’t ignore when shopping for e cigarettes.
Many companies complicate the e cigarette industry. Not Bull Smoke! A simple approach to offering smokers an option – in a water vapor form – has been working wonders. This electronic cigarette has been catching on and it’s here to stay. Read why I rank Bull Smoke as one of the best e cigarettes right now.
As the ecig industry grows, I’ve seen innovation on the product side, but I was really looking for that marketing campaign that blew me away. I’m happy to say I’m a big fan of Bull Smoke and their marketing efforts already! The brand is quite simple, with a tag line of “More Vapor. No Bull.” That simple phrase reminds me of the old Budweiser advertisements “Tastes great! Less Filling!”
November special: Save $50 off starter kits by using code: “SmokeFree.” Great way to start up e cigarette smoking at a big discount.
I’ve posted a full Bull Smoke Review for all to read. The last month I’ve received many emails asking to compare Bull Smoke to other brands as it’s popularity has just started to grow. What I can say to everyone is that if you are undecided about tastes of tobacco flavors or strength levels, then Bull Smoke’s Ranch Hand kit may be for you. OR, if you are a social smoker, the City Slicker gives you 10 unique flavors, including there tobacco blends AND menthol – so it’s a good way to buy a full assortment of e cigarettes in one shot. If you want to skip the Bull Smoke review and visit their site, click the link below to read why Bull Smoke appeals to smokers who crave a traditional look and feel.

I’m proud to say Bull Smoke is here to stay and is a simple, yet effective vapor cigarette that yields tremendous results. Read the review and full analysis for more information by clicking here: More about Bull Smoke.
November 1 update: Many people have sent me emails PRAISING the Bull Smoke customer loyalty program. While I have yet to cash in my points, I’ve traded emails with the company and all purchases get 10% back in loyalty dollars that you can use for future products. Pretty cool stuff! I have to say that Bull Smoke has great customer service, a simple, yet effective e cigarette battery, and certainly is a brand I can put my reputation on the line in fully endorsing.
Best Customer Service, hands down. Green Smoke has been among the most in-demand electronic cigarettes since I started this site in 2009! Many Consumers Feel Green Smoke is the best electronic cigarette, and I have no reason to argue as I’m a HUGE fan of this e cig company, especially with their new Flavor Max Cartridges.

With a component system made up of two parts, the Green Smoke Electronic cigarette snaps together with ease and delivers a powerful vaporized smoking experience. One of the best e-cigarettes since day one, this electric smoking device has set itself aside from the other top e-cig brands in customer service, component quality, and quality of the many flavored cartridges they offer.
Great news on 7/13/11 for Green Smoke Fans:
The new FLAVORMAX cartomizers are available and for sale! Green Smoke has been working on this development for quite some time, and they are now live and for sale. So if you have a Green Smoke kit and had second thoughts about trying another brand, go ahead and order new cartridges and give them a shot. Long time buyers of Green Smoke – you are in for a treat next time you re-order cartridges. I just did a video of myself smoking this and you’ll be SHOCKED at the increased amount of vapor. You can see it here: Flavor Max Review.
Also, all Green Smoke Starter Kits have been reduced by $10, making Green Smoke more affordable than before.
Green Smoke Review Essentials:
*Highest volume of smoke in the industry – (I have tried 99% of the e-cigarettes)
*Two piece system – atomizer and battery. They snap together with ease.
*Patented technology & tasty variety of flavors.
*Constant sales on cartridges and large quantity discounts
As someone who made an effort to switch to smoking e-cigarettes, I tried many brands. I never have an issue with anything having to do with Green Smoke. Time and time again you’ll see people talk about their superior customer service and the way they do business is simply great. Other e cig consumers like the quality of vapor production as well as the ease of working their e cigarette. There are several ecig brands that I enjoy, but if you read Green Smoke consumer reviews elsewhere, I’m not the only one who feels this is among the best electronic cigarettes PERIOD.
I also have a great discount code (below) in this Green Smoke review.

Why do many people feel Green Smoke is the best electronic cigarette? Well, besides the above reasons, they have never had products on back-0rder, ship lightning fast, and do business on the up-and-up. They also Sponsor NASCAR driver TJ Bell, so they are no “fly by night” electronic cigarette brand. Buy with confidence.

Another top tier E-Cigarette Brand is The Safe Cig
Updated: 9/16/11: The Safe Cig Micro is here. Scroll to the end of this review for this amazing update!
After bumping into an old friend at the local tavern, I was turned on to another brand of e-cigarettes called The Safe Cig. When I asked my friend how this brand of e-cigarettes compares to others, he stated that the technology lasts twice as long and gives consistent vapor volume for the life of each refill cartridge.
Never one to turn down a new electric cigarette, I gave a few puffs of this e-cig and took it for a test drive. I found myself ordering a kit for my own use and to review later. It was that good! I am pretty set in my ways and smoke the same steam cigarette brands on most occasions, but a lot seems to be in the long-term pipeline for The Safe Cig’s E-Cigarette, and I always seem to be turning to it when I want something stronger. I will also point this out, which I feel is very important. The Safe Cig does contribute a lot of money to the research and development into electronic cigarettes, and they have pointed out on their website many certificates they hold that are stone cold proof of the dedication they have for further advancing the industry. If you are leery of the quality of your e cigarette, you probably aren’t holding a Safe Cig. They are paving the way for the safety of the industry, and not only that – they make no bones about their product and it’s intentions. I’m a big supporter of their marketing and vision, and I think they just flat out do things the right way.
Best part, The Safe Cig gave my readers a 5% discount code: Safe4Andy
Coupon will work with this link: Safe Cig Storefront.
Keep reading for the essentials, or if you are looking for a more in depth analysis, read my full Safe Cig Review.
Here is what you get with the Safe Cig’s Starter Kit, priced at $89.99
2 Batteries
A home/Usb combo charger
5 pack of the Disposable Atomized Refill Cartridges of your choice in flavor and strength
For another $12.95 you can get a nice case that holds all your new e-cigarette smoking devices. TheSafe Cig has arrived, and its’ here to stay with the big boys in the industry. I encourage you to read about this brand, which is popular with hardcore (two pack a day) smokers who want a natural tobacco taste sans tobacco.
Now, for the Safe Cig Micro, the latest offering in the e cigarette world is brought to you by a respected California brand, The Safe Cig.
Fresh out as of 9/15/11, this is the latest e-cig on the market. Here are the details….
- The Safe Cig Micro’s are sold in individual packs, each with their own color schemes and unique flavors.
- These are equal to the EXACT SIZE of a traditional tobacco cigarette, making the Micro Safe Cig as close to the real thing as you can get.
- The packs are sporty, trendy, and fit in your pocket.
- Priced at $59.99, they are available in 13 flavors. Refill packs of 7 are sold for $16.95.
Flavors offered are as follows: Traditional, Classic, Menthol, Trinidad, Mandalay, Columbian, Brazilian, Madagascar, Madrid, Moroccan, Royale, Saharan, and Turkish. I’m not really sure what each “country” means as I haven’t tried them, but you can count on me to make an order and report back my sentiment on each.
We’re all excited for the new Safe Cig Micro Reviews to pour in. Please share your experience with everyone once you have a chance to try the Safe Cig Micro..

Blu Cigs Review – A Closer Look at a Powerhouse brand that keeps Evolving with Sophisticated Design & Technology
When people ask me what brands consumers feel are the best electronic cigarettes for social smokers, I always tell them that many people are finding a lot of success with Blu Cigs.
Blu Cigs was one of the first e cigarette companies to make a presence in the USA and they remain a popular choice for people looking to start electronic smoking. It’s a more “elegant” and “stylish” brand in my opinion that really markets itself to the young adult crowd that hits clubs, bars, and the night life scene. Their advertising usually depicts social settings that are hip and cool.
As if making the switch to electric cigarettes wasn’t a savings enough, Blu Cigs offers a starter kit that sells for around the price of most of the cheaper e-cigarettes at $69.95. The sharp packaging and solid design work shows you that a lot of time went into creating the smoking apparatus Blu Cigs offers. The starter kit price affords you one pack that holds five e-cig cartridges, one electronic cigarette battery, as well as one spare battery.
Click for more information about Blu Cigs
I will state that “hardcore” smokers rarely find the success with Blu Cigs that they do with other brands. I’m not trying to rule out Blu Cigs as an option, but for the guy who appreciates an e cigarette that looks, tastes, and feels like an actual tobacco cig, I’m finding the majority of them are preferring other brands that perhaps try to be more rugged with their design and presentation. Hopefully that makes sense for everyone – if not – make a comment and I’ll answer your questions.
In addition, you get the following with your Blu Cigs Starter kit:
25 cartridges in the strength of your choice
1 Wall Charger
1 USB Charger
Full 30 day money back guarantee and one year warranty!
Blu Cigs cartridges are made in the USA by Johnson Creek, a Wisconsin company. They have an FDA registered facility and people seem to enjoy the flavors. The newer devices for for 2011 create more vapor than previous versions, so be sure to check them out or ask about them if you have an older model. Either way, everything is compatible across the brand.
Blu Cigs makes it really easy to buy e-cigarettes with their starter kit offer. I have used Blu Cigs and continue to use them in certain situations. (I am domesticated and rarely go out but when I do, it feels right using Blu Cigs in the night life scene – most my friends agree it’s a hip accessory that serves a major purpose.) As stated earlier, if you are on a budget or want to move slowly into smoking e-cigarettes, this is a great brand to try out because they make it very easy to do so. The batteries are very light, and some people like that as well.
***It’s important to note about the Blu Cigs review that there are comments dated back to 2009, as Blu Cigs was one of the first electronic cigarette brands I ever tried. If you see comments dated prior to 2/8/2011, they reflect an ENTIRELY different product than that of which is on the market right now. So, keep that in mind as you siphon through the comments and Blu Cigs reviews – most people agree that their upgrades were very efficient and the overall electronic smoking experience has been upgraded.
The above personal vaporizer / e cigarette products are my picks as the best electronic cigarette companies in the world right now. They not only offer quality vapor smoking products, but also back everything up by offering top notch customer service. I have ordered from all of these brands and dealt with customer service on multiple occasions, so I can 100% stand by my reviews. The reviews are updated frequently to represent changes within the brand and all are reflective of current price points.
Note: There is a new free trial offer going around. It’s called simply: E Cigs. It gets great reviews elsewhere, so I figured it’s worth posting.

*Please note that while I do my best to provide informational e cigarette reviews based on my personal experience, your tastes and preferences may vary. Be responsible and do your due diligence on all offers.
Note from Andy: I urge you to leave a comment, as hundreds of consumers have done since 2009. Share with every0ne your experiences with various e cigarette brands, and ask questions. You will find that everyone is here to help others. If you wish, state what qualities you are looking for in an e cigarette, as well as what you smoke currently, and I’ll give you an honest choice as the best e cigarette for your taste and budget. My site is unique in the fact that it’s for consumers, by consumers, and I take pride in keeping it up to date with the latest news about electronic cigarettes. Most people who visit here are quick to help others as we’re all on a common mission here.

I agree that they are best..I’ve tried two others and Green Smoke is much better tasting with more vapor. Only problem I have is that they take so long to ship out new cartridges. I sent in an order and payment was processed on March 19th and the order wasn’t shipped until March 26th…still waiting..and in the meantime I’ve had to use the “other” e-cigarette..thank goodness I have back-ups.
I am concerned about the name brand flavor if any that any of these Ecigs have.
I am a Winston Light 100 smoker. If I smoke a regular Winston Light I get dizzy headed. If I smoke a Red pkg. Winston I can feel the extra nicotine in each draw . I do not like the taste of Marlboro but it is tolerable. So how can I just switch with any satisfaction to something that says “regular tobacco taste”. That does not say anything to the person that is a particular name brand user.
So will any of you address that issue.
Also what is the comparable cost? These reviews state one pack, 5 cartridges, etc. so what does that mean. If I smoke a pack and a half every day ..what would be my cost….Is it per draw?…I have no idea how many draws I take in a day…guess it would be good to attempt to measure that one day…lol.
Do you think that the cost will come down as it gets more in demand?
Hi Carol,
Thanks for your comment on my e-cigarette blog. I can understand the concern you have, being a Winston Smoker. To my knowledge, there isn’t a brand out there claiming they have a similar taste and draw, but that’s not to say there isn’t one very similar. I do think the cost of e-cigarettes will come down eventually, but they are still a great value compared to traditional cigarettes. I am actually in the process of adding a calculator that can help determine your potential savings with e-cigarettes. Please check back shortly and hopefully it’s up and running.
In the mean time if there are any other questions I can answer, just let me know.
-Andy
Have you tried the esquares electronic cigarettes?
Do you have a pricelist for all brands of ecigs? I dont want more than a very small amnt of nicotene, because from what I’ve read here, the additives sound scarier than reg. cigarette smoking. Thanx in advance!
I don’t…..but I do invite you to follow the links I’ve posted to the respective websites.
im looking for an e cig package for 2 people. me and my wife without buying two seperate ones. is there any?
I have yet to find a “made for two” model. Great point. I’ll keep my eyes open and email you should I find any e-cig starter kits with that in mind.
On the pricey side, if you buy White Cloud’s model, it comes with plenty of accessories, e-cigarettes, and different cartridges. This initially slipped my mind. Here is a link: Cirrus 2 is the model I’d suggest.
White Cloud Review
V2cigs has a kit for couples. I love V2 myself and have been smokeless for a week, when my kit arrived..
Funny you say that, they just reached out and are in the process of sending me a starter kit at the moment. I don’t see one on their site though “for couples”
Please advise so I can keep people updated.
Andy
I just looked at V2 website and the couple kit was on there. I’ve just ordered a blu starter kit and am excited to receive. I am hoping to quit smoking!!!!!
There are a few brands that give you two cigarettes – V2 has a nice one as well I just tried – expanded review coming soon.
After readiing many reviews I decided to try the V2 brand. I placed an online order for one of the starter kits three weeks ago. After 2 weeks I called and was told that there was such an influx of new orders that the company was putting thier focus on fulfilling existing customers refill orders first and that my order would be sent “at the end of the week”. Called yesterday and was told my order would be sent “at the end of THIS week” but they didn’t have the Congress flavor(one of the basic flavors) I ordered and asked if I would like to try the Chocolate instead!!! Needless to say I cancelled my order. As I’m going out of town in two weeks to a totally smoke free environment I didn’t want to risk not having the product. On a positive note, I received an email today indicating that the refund would post within 7 days on my credit card.
Carol,
Thanks for the note. I am unaware of any fulfillment issues and have brought this up to the management. I’m sure this is an isolated incident and has to do with just the Congress Flavor. I have a personal friend of mine who ordered a day after I posted my review and she received it in 48 hours. I’ll get back to everyone ASAP if there is any issue in fulfillment or if people should just plan on a longer wait then usual.
Carol, thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
I am trying to buy my father one of these things for Christmas. He has been smoking since before I was born, I am 22. I need help from experienced smokers. He is an auto mechanic so that is making me lean towards the Blu Cigs because they come with that carrying pack so he wouldnt have to worry about it getting oil or other car fluids on it. But I am also intrigued by V-2 and Green Smoke. I have also recently heard of American Blue Tip and was wondering about those as well. My final question I have is about the strengths, he currently smokes Marlboro Lights so about what strength is that?
I ordered my V2 a little ver a week ago. Same situation kind of. They were backordered on some things so my order was delayed but yesterday I received it and inside there was a note saying that the portable charger was on backorder and would be shipped separately. They also sent me 2 correct flavors of the five. They didn’t send out the Cowboy flavor which to me is kinda the most important one since the other flavors were just to try out of curiosity. Customer service has been kinda weak but as far as the product goes…so far I am really loving it. I just hope it won’t be difficult to get the right cartridges in a decent amount of time in the future cause that could make an already tough situation more sour.
A while back I got a Gamucci when I first wanted to try the eCig and it didn’t last more than a week…I couldn’t get hardly any vapor out of it, but this V2 won’t stop. The automatic takes a while to prime and requires more work to get a good pull of vapor. The manual with the button is a bit better and faster and then the corded one that you can plug into your computer so as to not run down the batteries on the others is a beast….you get great pulls off of that one. I would recommend V2 for sure but just don’t make your orders too complicated cause they can’t seem to get that part right all the time.
Gogi,
Thanks for your feedback. I have passed this on to V2 Cigs. I feel every brand should know about what people say about them so they can improve. I will say that in my experience with V2 the manual with the button give you a HUGE cloud of smoke. I have no complaints with my V2′s, but it’s good to know that you point out to be precise with your order. Then again, they are rather new to the game and probably still getting their customer service staff up to speed.
I have invited V2 Cigs to reply here, so perhaps they will.
I see that a couple people have had negative experiences with shipping with V2 Cigs. Iunderstand that that were back-ordered on some flavor/strength combinations, as well as the portable charging case. I personally use a V2 Cig, and I know that they’ve been growing exponentially as a company, and are experiencing “growning pains” as a company. However, they’ve been taking steps to stockpile additional inventory, especially for the upcoming holiday season, and apparently they’ve been shipping orders 24/7 to fulfill any back-orders. I ordered 2 kits last week for my parents, both of whom have been smoking for 20+ years, and they received their kits in 3 days. My mom absolutely LOVES the peppermint (she’s a Menthol smoker), and I got my dad on Cowboy and Congress Lights (not sure which one he’d prefer — he smokes Marlboro Lights). So far, they’ve been ecstatic with their V2s, and all I can say is be patient… if shipping got backed up, I can assure you it’s worth the wait!
LOVE YOUR WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS VERY HELPFUL!!! THANK YOU ;0)
I usually smoke Marlboro Reds, or at the worst, Lights. Is there any brand out there that would come close to the density flavor inhaled and amount of vapor exhaled (I would like to feel like I’m taking a pull when I inhale & exhale), to a Marlboro Red? And a bonus would be, red tip, with an orange light lighting up when inhaled.
I am looking forward to your response,
Thank you,
Sasha =)
Yes, the Safe Cig, Green Smoke, Blu Cigs, and V2 all have e cigarettes that give you a “close to” Marlboro Red or Light simulation…
I want to buy a good e cigarette for my friend as a present. He is a pack and a half Malboro light smoker. Was wondering which one you would recommend for that and what tobacco flavor to buy. I am not a smoker and it is confusing with all the choices. Price is not an issue so just which ever you think would be best. I really appreciate any help! Thank you and thanks for the great blog.
Stella
Stella,
The consumers out there seem to agree with my opinion on Green Smoke being the best out there. They also have a lot in the pipeline “brand-wise” so I’d say they have the inside track to be around for a very long time with innovative products. Make sure you use the current discount code: disc10-9219
Email me personally should you have any further questions: andy AT bestecigarettesreview.com
Andy,
Thank you for the good info! I appreciate the quick reply. I will look into the Green Smoke and if I have any further questions I will definitely email you. Again thanks for the great blog!
Stella
Wife and I just starting to try e cigs. Saw good reviews on Smoke Tip. They were running a buy1 get 1 free over the Thanksgiving holiday. Got 2 starter kits for 59.95 Can’t beat that deal. Fast (free) shipping. I ordered them Fri. evening and received them on Mon. everything in perfect shape. Charged the batts per their instructions. Been using since Mon. night, just great so far, good taste and vapor @ a great price. Very pleased, seems like a great company. 30 day guarantee, and lifetime warranty. Looking forward to see what others think of Smoke Tip. I believe I saw where their batt and cartomizor are interchangeable with V2 and White Cloud e cigs. Do you know if this is correct.
Ron, thanks for the comments, people always enjoy them. As far as the battery and cartomizer question, let me look into it and get back to you. I am not at home at the moment but have all the stuff there and can certainly give it a shot and get back to you.
Hi Ron,
Okay, here are your answers: V2 and white cloud are interchangeable . Both the cartomizers and the USB charger. I’m charging a White Cloud right now with a V2Cigs charger as a test and it’s working just fine.
If you have any other questions, just holler.
Greetings Andy,
I enjoyed reading you reviews on the e-cigs blogs, my problem is I want to get my husband one but he smokes “black and milds” which is a type of cigar do they have anything “e-like” in a cigar type style. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated trying to get this before Christmas.
-Thelma Koger
Thelma,
I definitely know Black and milds, but at the moment can’t point to any brands that offer a similar vapor solution. Premium does make an e-cigar, but I have yet to try it. If it’s as good as quality as their vapor cigarette devices, I’m sure it’ll be a great device, but I can’t guarantee it’s similar to black and milds.
Do me a favor, email me andy@bestecigarettesreview DOT com and I’ll then forward your request to my contact at Premium.
Cheers,
Andy
Hi Andy-
I certainly don’t want to sound rude, but are are you affiliated with any of these e-Cig companies?
I’m very interested in purchasing a system and really would love to know of a brand that is of high quality. I want something that will somewhat replicate the feel of smoking with regard to smoke quantity (vapor) and feel.
You appear to have highest ratings for the Green Smoke system.
If money wasn’t a factor, would that still be your main choice?
Thanks!
Eric,
No, I’m not. You should read my disclaimer. While I do accept ads and other forms of incentives from this site, it was never intended for that. I just became passionate about this e cigarette deal and really went buck wild with this hobby and in the process, became a respected resource and somewhat of a “guru.” I don’t work for any of these brands (I’d like to) and my e cigarette reviews are just that – personal reviews based on my experiences. I’ve removed brands from the site that were inferior, as well as pointed out which brands to avoid on occasion after being swamped with complaints. This is for you, the consumer.
Green Smoke is tops among consumers and is the brand I smoke regularly. Mainly because I don’t like to change and I’ve always had good experiences in dealing with them. For a “real” feeling, look at Safe Cig – I’d argue it’s on par with Green Smoke but some friends of mine who were Marlboro Red smokers tend to think Safe Cig is more “real.” Just their two cents….
If money isn’t a factor, White Cloud has a serious product you may want to look at. It just seems to last longer and ALWAYS put out great vapor. I don’t like to switch around brands, but when I did smoke this over a weekend trip, I was surprised. But the price point has led it to not really get a lot of attention. I’m perhaps the only person who has really taken the time to invest in it and give it a shot.
Does that help?
Andy
Thanks for your comments, Andy. They helped a great deal.
Eric
You are welcome Eric, glad I could help.
Hello, My fiance’ smokes Camel Wide Menthol, and I would like to have him try a e- cig and hopefully quit smoking, is there any Menthol cartridges that are like Camels and YES money is an issue, you always have money for cigarettes but never for stuff to help you quit right, it seems easier to shell out $5.00+ a day than $60.00+ at one time and hope it works
Denise,
I’ve sort of changed my tune as how to really tell people about e-cigarettes. they are not to be marketed as a smoking cessation device, and I certainly won’t go around promising miracles. that said, millions of people, myself included, have switched to e cigarettes. Menthol cartridges are plenty in this industry, if you’d like to hear about my recommendations, please email me Andy @ bestecigarettesreview.com
Cheers,
Andy
First of all I would like to say, that here I found good reviews and interesting comments. Thank you for that. As I understand this site is for US customers. I noticed that brand names differ in europe and in US. I’ve been trying to find a similar site for europeans – no luck yet. If you know one, I would be interested in recommendations. It seems that electronic cigarettes are much more popular in US than in Europe for the moment.
The other thing – I think that manufacturers of e-cigarattes could pay more attention to design. The e-cigarette should not necessarily look like the ordinary one. To my opinion there are a great opportunities for new ideas, forms and colors.
GK
Gediminas,
This blog is for the entire world, not just USA. However, I can’t comment much on the retail and commercial appeal of the business abroad.
Most ALL brands here ship to Europe – V2 for sure does daily – I suggest you spend some more time on their sites, V2 has flags on their site making this very clear.
I also think that the design comment you made isn’t really much of an issue. What would you like, makers to make a “hot pink” design so you can stick out like a sore thumb? LOL.
Hi, I am so confused after reading the reviews on the e-cigs. If I smoke a pack a day how long will one of the e-cigs last me? Which brand do you think gives you more for your money?
Thanks
More for your money – Green smoke IMO.
Each cartridge gives you 200-300 puffs. Your milage may vary – depends how hard you “hit” your e cig.
First off – thanks for this site – it’s great to a have a place to go for info when there are so many competing products.
Okay, two questions. One – have you heard of/tried “Never Light Again”? A friend gave me his demo and I tried it for a day. Although the starter kit is only $25.00, I’ve heard that some of these cheap e-cigs have nasty ingredients – do you know if these do?
Second, do you know of good products that can be bought off-line (in brick and mortar businesses) in the Los Angeles area? I want to avoid the automatic withdraw of refills from my credit card that most of these online businesses demand.
Thank you,
Michael
Micheal,
Have not heard of it – but I can confirm a lot of the “cheap e cigarette” brands do lack quality for obvious reasons. These are complex devices, I personally wouldn’t buy any kit under say $59.
I’m in Miami, so LA isn’t an area I have a lot of knowledge about retail-wise, BUT – I can say that I order from Green Smoke and get cartridges with ease adn don’t have to leave my CC on file. The same goes for V2, Blu, Safe Cig. They don’t store your CC and there is no auto re-bills. I know what you are speaking of, and I hate that billing model myself.
Cheers,
Andy
Hi, i smoke 2 packs of camel crush per day and used to smoke camel wide lights, until they changed them, i got the e cigg kit that 7 11 sold and although they seem to satisfy my nico craving, they taste like plastic or something, can u suggest a different brand for me…….i intend to continue with electronic ciggs, much easier to deal with…thank you ps i need to get something locally, denver, or fast ship…
Yeah, a lot of people are saying bad things about the 7-11 brand – what exact brand name does it bear so I can look into it further?
If you like Camel Crush, get the V2 and load up on Menthol cartridges, I think they have the best menthol taste personally. Use “AndyG” to save some cash. Check out my home page for more information or feel free to email me personally – andy @ bestecigarettesreview.com
Hello Andy, I just found your site tonight as I was looking for reviews of e-cig’s. I am a 49 year old woman who started smoking at 11 years old. I used to pick up coke bottles and cash them in for deposit money to buy cigarettes on my way to school. It is a total different world today and I would like to live longer so I am reaching out before I kill myself and asking for help. We have 3 grown children 2 inlaw children and I have a husband of 33 years and we have 4 grandchildren. I want despeartly to quit and get healthy. I would like honest and sincere answers because I feel like I am running out of chances and options.
I smoke Camels menthols. I have smoked Salems and Virginia Slims always full and never lights. I do not care what it cost I want to know what is the best for my taste my money. I would like your honest opinon on what I should try because that will be the company I go with. I have cut back to a pack a day from 2 packs but I need that hit. Thank you for your time and your honesty and I look forward to your advise.
Jackie
Jackie, I’m about to step out for lunch, I am going to email you some further questions.
Hi Andy, I have been smoking for 45 years and need an alternative way to cut back or quit. I’m looking for the best product made in America, price doesn’t matter. I have read alot on your site so any help would be GREAT Thanks
I can’t confirm that any brand reviewed on this blog is made in the USA. Green Smoke was for a minute, but now they are back to using China for manufacturing.
Hello There, I was just reading your reviews and thank you for them. I am really confused now though. My husbands co-worker has a web site that sells e-cigs (greatlakesvapor), but not sure how they rate. I would rather get something that is proven and rates very well. Is there a site that can tell me what e-cigs are and what all the parts do, how long they last, and how they whole thing works. I’ve been smoking since I was 11ish (about 30 years now) only menthol and about a pack a day. I’ve tried every method known to mankind to quite and nothing seems to work. Does e-smoking really help to quit? How does it work? Is there nicotine in it? Or, other bad chemicals? Money’s not too much of an issue but I like to be cost conscious. Thanks, Debi
Debi,
I suggest you peruse the past blog entries I’ve made to the site, I have answered most of your questions in detail over the last 18 months. Perhaps I should make an FAQ so I can refer people there.
Hi, Have you heard anything about the cigalectric brand? They are at my local gas station. I’m down to my last pack and wondering if they are any good? Thanks
Never heard of them, but I’ve heard horror stories about “gas station” brands. They are usually very cheap thus far and not on par with the best electronic cigarettes reviewed here.
Well, I’m taking your word for it, I just ordered the SafeCig brand due to value for the buck. Green Smoke is to expensive for a first try. I’ll let you know my thoughts when it arrives.
Great Brian. I think you’ll be happy with TSC. It’s very “real” looking and is pretty powerful.
Have you tryed the Bulldog brand.. the disposable ones are sold at the smoke shop by my house. i just picked one up yesterday and have been smoking it every since then.. it is supose to last as long as to packs of cigaretts. which i am testing to see. it is only 8.50$ for it. so if it does last the same as 2 packs its well worth the money and its at the smoke shop so i would never have to worry about shipping.. just wanted to know if you now anything about it? oh and i love it!
Heard they are not the same quality as most of the big brands. Problem with the new FDA ruling is all sorts of companies are putting out less quality products that are coming to market. When it costs $8.50 I have to argue the battery quality just isn’t on par with the best electronic cigs out there. With years of experience, the top brands have really put in some hardcore man hours finding what works. Can’t speak from experience on the brand you reference but obviously you can see I’m naturally skeptic. I’ll keep an eye peeled for it in Florida Smoke Shops.
Thank you for your reviews, Andy. I’ve been vaping Greensmoke since last June when I quit smoking. Unfortunately, their red label cartridges in the popular strengths have been out of stock frequently. Today I contacted them, and the rep told me they wouldn’t have what I wanted for “a few weeks”. That certainly wasn’t good enough for me! So, although I’ve spent a small fortune with them, I’ve now switched to Safe Cigs, based upon your information.
Emily,
Wow, I did not know that about Green Smoke. I loaded up on cartridges a while back and haven’t needed to order in some time. Great information, thanks for passing that along.
You aren’t taking a step back with The Safe Cig – it’s a great brand I’ve come to really enjoy. Please come back and let me know how it worked out for you.
I’ll be sure to get back to you with a report, Andy. I just got an email from Green Smoke telling me the stocking problems are due to Christmas, but that doesn’t fly with me, because they’ve been running out of various types of cartridges for months now, and I’ve had to switch back and forth between nicotene levels. I’ve also experienced delays in delivery and have had problems with their batteries. I think a lot of this has to do with a greater demand for the product that they haven’t been equipped to meet.
So all in all, outside of the initial cost, I’m not terribly sad to be switching.
Emily,
To their credit, most brands have had significant back-orders this fall. E-cigarettes REALLY took off, as evidenced by my blog traffic as well as sheer number of media releases lately.
My Safe Cig order came in today, it took only 3 days. I’m a Marlboro Light smoker, so I decided to try the 14mg Classic refills. It seems to work well, but I might need to go to the next level 18mg. Have you tried the different flavors? Is there much difference between the traditional and the classic?
Hey Brian,
The “classic” is smoother, lighter than the traditional. You can certainly taste a difference.
Just ordered from breathe fresh , wanted to know if you ever tried them? Also can you buy cartridges from other companies and use on different brand? I guess I should have read more reviews before I bought them. I was just so excited to try, still waiting for them to arrive.
Never heard of them Mary Beth.
Sorry one more question, sounds silly but do you get smokers breath with e-cigs?
No!!!
Hi Andy,
I paid a little extra, and ordered my Safe Cig deluxe kit priority mail. The deluxe gives a lot of bang for the buck. Got it yesterday- in just three days. I’m vaping the Classic 14mg (I was a Marlboro ultra-light smoker), and can say that so far, I’m really liking it! They only offer short batteries (Green Smoke also offers long ones), but I don’t think it’s an issue, because it takes less than 2 hours to charge them and three came in the kit. (Green Smoke short batts took about 3 hours to charge, and the longs took more than 5 hrs.) The batts seem to last about the same for both brands. Another feature I like, is the batts automatically stop charging when fully charged. This allows charging overnight or when away, which is a definite no-no with the GS, as it ruins the batt. As far as the cartridges, the Safe Cigs require less effort to draw on and are much less harsh than the Green Smoke reds; and yes they do last longer than GS. So far, I can say that I’m very happy with my purchase and Safe Cig is an improvement over the Green Smoke in my book as far as product and price. I’ll update you if I find any problems in the future. Hope this was helpful to you and anyone else interested!
Thanks for the in depth review, Emily. A lot of people echo what you say about the Safe Cig, it’s a brand that’s really gaining steam (pun intended!) recently. Keep us posted as to how everything goes!
heeey… actually I don’t care about the price I’m looking for a good quality so what u recommend for me ??
If price is not an issue, White Cloud makes a great product. Other than that, I suggest you take a look at the home page reviews.
I did not have the same luck with Green Smoke as everyone else. Firstly, the batteries, even when new, took hours and hours to charge, then didn’t hold the charge. Some of the replacement cartridges didn’t work brand new; sometimes they didn’t last. And on a couple of occasions, fluid came out of the cartridges. I’ve switched over to The Safe Cig and have had great results.
Did you notify Green Smoke? They should replace the cartridge if fluid is emitted. With any electronic device, faulty units can happen and Green Smoke is known for superior Customer Support.
I bought a whole load of Green Smoke cartridges for my husband and myself, and I never had a fluid problem with the Green Smoke cartridges, but I did have several that didn’t work at all. I would estimate one defective per 8-10 packs. I know for sure that I had two packs that had two defective in them. Green Smoke has a no return policy on carts, as most companies do (which is very understandable in theory, at least), so I was outta luck. I’m not out to bash Green Smoke, but I’m upset that I’ve thrown away a huge amount on a brand that was rated so highly for its superior product. Perhaps when at the forefront and top. they were resting on their laurels? It’s been almost a week for me with Safe Cig, and if they would come out with a long battery with a longer vaping time to match their carts, I’d be in seventh heaven.
I have tried 3 different e-cigs, and so far my favorite has been the Dragonfly. They have the manual button, which gives a more consistant drag each time. It was very affordable compared to some of the others (I got the starter kit). They also come in a bunch of cool colors! Takes about an hour to charge a batt. NEVER got juice in my mouth with this one either.
I have also tried No. 7, which seems pretty fair but not very consistant smoke production. When it is working well, I like it.
The other one I tried was Direct E-Cig. It’s very comparable to No. 7, but I REALLY don’t care for the weird taste it seems to have. I can’t complain too much tho, I got it for free, only paid 5 bucks shipping.
I got juice in my mouth with both the No. 7 and the Direct E-Cig. Don’t care for that at all.
Overall, I prefer the manual button with the Dragonfly cig, rather than sitting and puffing on the other ones to get a good drag.
Think I will try the Safe Cig next.
Hey, these reviews seem pretty honest. I was wondering what you had to say about Prosmoke? Blu seems to be alright, but there are huge complaints about battery life and the foil covers, and both green and blu use pg, while Prosmoke uses vg… It’s all up to personal preference, but I would prefer to use something less synthetic and chemical filled
Have not tried Pro Smoke – would like to get that up and review in early 2011.
Thanks anyway. Might be getting one, if I do I will definitely come back and let you all know how they are!
Definitely do so, John. Would appreciate any feedback you have. I’d review one but I’m really buried at work and it’s hard for me to make time for new e-cig reviews as I will be puffing overtime if I do.
An interesting experience with Safe Cig… I had one battery that wasn’t working- it seemed completely dead. I emailed the company and told them the problem. Rather than just giving me a return # and my going to the inconvenience and expense to send it back for a replacement, they ran through a trouble shooting list. The last suggestion on the list, was to lightly blow, then lightly suck on the battery and then recharge it. Apparently they have some new chip technology, and occasionally the battery might need resetting due to something that’s happened while it was in use. Anyway, I followed the instructions, and IT WORKED like a charm!! Safe Cig really has their act together.
thanks Emily, that’s great news! Glad to hear the Safe Cig saved the day and made it work. Cheers to that!
I received my safecig a few days ago and was wondering if anyone else has experienced coughing and tight feeling in the lungs? I’m not sure if I’m just getting sick but it’s a strange coincidence. Could it be the menthol that causes a burning in the lungs with cough?
Thanks I’m hoping it’s a cold because haven’t smoked a real cigarette since the ecig.
It’s a little adjustment from traditional cigs. I think it’s a coincidence – perhaps a cold is what you have. Hope you feel better.
Happy New Year!
Interesting site that I came across…thanks for the info. I found a company that sells PEAK e-cigs and thought they were pretty good… I don’t know how they compare to some of these brands you have discussed but I know I liked mine alot better than my buddy who has a BLU…. it tasted better… anyways…thanks for the info!
Thanks for stopping by, Paolo. I do all I can to help people out. Happy New year!
what do you know/think about joy cigs?
I haven’t tried them, Anne. I’d like to – if any rep from Joy reads my blog, contact me if you would like me to review your product.
New Years Eve marks my one week anniversary as a vaper. I’m thrilled! No more standing self-consciously outdoors drawing on a cancer-stick and fouling up the air. I can’t believe I only recently found out about e-cigs two weeks ago.
I came across this website and read thru the reviews and comments. I proceeded to read other reviews for a week, then decided to try The Safe Cig. I ordered the deluxe kit and it arrived in three days, Christmas Eve.
My kit came fully equipped and works as advertised. I’ve been a smoker for thirty years. I like both regular and menthol, and usually carried both Marlboro Lights and Marlboro Menthol Lights. I find with the Safe Cig I like the Traditional and Menthol flavors in 18mg.
I haven’t lit a tobacco cigarette in days, and don’t plan to. I already feel better, breathe easier, and smell aromas I haven’t noticed in years. I want to thank Andy and all the commenters for helping me find a safer, cleaner, and hopefully healthier alternative to smoking… happy new year!
Charlie,
Success stories like these are what make me sign online and update the site whenever possible. I’m very happy for your experience and thanks so much for the kind words. It’s stories like this that really drive me to keep people informed and spread the good word about electronic cigarettes.
Happy New Year and Happy Vaping!
ANDY
Hey Andy,
I am not a smoker but my boyfriend is and I am looking to order the Safe Cig Starter Kit for him. He smokes 1 pack of Newports every day, sometimes more or less. I noticed there is a $30 difference between the Starter Kit and the Starter Kit Pro; is having the extra battery really essential for him? (he’s not just a social smoker and he does smoke throughout the day). Also, I would like to get this for him with him quitting one day *in mind* so I don’t want him to necessarily get wayyy too hooked on the ecigs but I also want to make sure the ecigs will be enough to hopefully get off the real thing. In that case, would you recommend 14, 18, or 24 mg? (I am swaying toward 18).. Thank you so much, your article has been a great help!
Evelyn,
Thanks for dropping by. Let me ask you this, what does he smoke now? (This way I can suggest a strength)
AG
Hi. My husband is interested in the e cigs. His doctor has advised him to quit smoking due to health issues but he really enjoys smoking. The doc said he didnt care if used patches for the rest of his life if he could give up the actual smoking. Hubby said he does want to quit eventually. He smokes Marlboro Lights and probably 2 packs/day. Could you make any recommendations? Thank you.
Terri,
What is your ideal price range for a starter kit?
Andy,
He currently smokes Newport (menthols), 1 pack a day.
I like the Menthol versions of both Green Smoke and V2 – either brand should help. They make the best menthol simulation that I have tried. I have discount codes for you in the reviews for each.
Thanks Evelyn!
Hi,
I am a chain smoker since 20 years and just bought a disposable e-cig by a brand called Relief. I am about to buy the real kit , however can’t find the nicotine amount anywhere. Does anybody on here have any experiance with the brand Relief, and if so what are your thoughts? Thanks
Julia,
Send me their website, I’m pretty good at finding the details you are looking for and am happy to help.
Hey andy I just ordered my prosmoke kit and would like to know what you think about them, also what other kits should I try?
Victor,
I would say look at my home page – those are my top picks. Haven’t had a chance to use ProSmoke personally – it’s on the “to do” list.
I just purchased NJoy e-cigs. Having problems right from the start with battery longevity and fluid from the filter. I am sending it back. The annoying thing is that I cannot go to the retailer where I purchased them…I have to send them back to the company. By the time I get a refund…who knows? In any case, I may try the Safe Cig. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. NJoy was $40.00 plus tax for 1 cigarette with UPC cord (2 filters included) and one 5-pack filters. Great price if it worked!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmm…I don’t have a ton of experience with NJoy. Wish I could help. Do let us know if you have any issues with your return.
Hi Andy,
I am heavy smoker and am looking into the Safe Cig. In your experience, have you found this this emulates a full flavored cigarette to the point that it’s a good stop smoking aide?
Technically, no company nor myself is supposed to make claims as to smoking cessation devices. It’s a pretty strict penalty some companies have already paid for doing so. that said, if you order an e-cigarette, you will find not only a great similarity to the real thing, but it can be a great hobby to make you forget about traditional tobacco cigarettes.
personally, I have not had the urge at ALL to go back to tobacco cigarettes. So, in my experience, yeah, it worked as a stop smoking aid.
Hello All:
I am currently using smoke tip and replacing e cigs with traditional smoking. I find that I am in love with their coffee flavor. Their cartridges claim to be equal to 1.25 packs, although I am on my 3rd one today (traditionally a 1 pack a day smoker) and that’s because I’ve barely set the thing down. I am getting nicotine headaches, needless to say why, and was wondering if the flavor is as strong in the less nicotine cartridges? Even if you haven’t tried this particular brand, what are the fluctuations when you reduce nicotine levels? Any response is appreciated.
Judy,
You should check with Smoke Tip to see which nicotine level you ordered with your coffee flavor. The flavors are usually much less in nicotine content than the traditional smoking flavors. It’s easy to “not put down” the product, as they are fun to puff on. I have tried Smoke Tip, and enjoy their product, personally.
Check the nic. level, that’s my suggestion. If you can get stronger, do so at first.
Hi Andy & happy new year to all
looking for help & advice…after researching & reading your reviews, I decided to go with 1 of the best…The Safe Cig…I ordered on Dec 22, 2010 and recieved a confirmation e-mail immediately. I have still not recieved my order…worst of all I have tried calling, e-mailing (submitted 3 tickets), even facebook!…NO RESPONSE! My order still says “processing” on their website. Now I live in Toronto, Canada…could that be an issue? is there a problem with international shipping? If so, at least a response!!! HELP
This is sort of an anomaly as I’ve never seen anything bad about the C.S. at Safe Cig. If you’d like, send me your order number and I can try to help out. I’ve been successful in the past at digging up information for consumers, as I have relationships with all these brands.
Sound good?
Andy @ bestecigarrettesreview.com is my best email.
Watch out for Prado e-cigs. They say try it for just shipping and handling…Read the fine print. It states that its a 14 day trial that begins the day you buy it. Not when you receive it. After the “14″ day trial that you may have never known about, they charge you full price of $148. Thanks Prado! My e-cig never even worked, they were supposed to send me a replacement, but I never received it. So my 14 day trial was really a 30 day loss of $. On top of that I am still buying cigarettes. Beware….
Cole, I’ve put out a warning on Prado long ago. Consumers beware.
Thanks for your comments, you echo what many people say…
I’ve smoked and enjoyed it for 45 years. I decided to try e-cig. now that smokers have become pyriah’s in the north-east (NJ). I first ordered South Beach and it worked so-so because of the lack of vapor. I did cut back on my 3/4 pack a day, but not very much. I decided to try another brand and ordered Safe cig. I have been using it for 2 days and yesterday I only smoked 2 regular (Capri 120′s) cigarettes the whole day. I like Safe cigs because it’s the most like a regular cigarette. The vapor leaves no bad taste in my mouth and this from someone who has never tried to quit before. Perhaps there’s others as good, but I haven’t tried them.
Hi Nancy,
South Beach Smoke seemed cheap to me – I chose not to include it in my reviews. Plus I don’t like the auto-shipping of cartridges, consumers normally don’t like to be auto-billed for anything. Safe is great, isn’t it?
Evelyn,
If your boyfriend is a pack a day smoker, then I would recommend getting him at least three batteries to have on hand. (I have four.) It’s been my experience that one needs to make the switch as convenient as possible- most especially at the beginning. A couple of batts might be fine if just hanging around home and able to switch them to and from a charger, but I need to have extras when I don’t have that luxury (which is often). My advice is the more batteries, the better… And an extra charger doesn’t hurt, either. Help make the switch as convenient as possible for your boyfriend and he stands a much better chance of sticking with it. And I wouldn’t go into this process with a preconceived aversion/notion to his having a new addiction. It’s hard to explain the vaping thing, but once he gets started, I think you’ll get what I’m saying. Good luck to you both.
Emily,
Thanks for chiming in. Much appreciated. Wasn’t able to spend time here all day as my job had me buried all day.
To John in Canada,
I ordered the Safe Cig for my husband on Dec. 16th in hopes of getting it for x-mas. I too sent e-mails, because I had not received my order. But, I did get a response back each time, though they told me they were closed for holidays. Finally, I got a response last week and they said the shipping label got tore in the mail and they received my order back, were sending it priority overnight, and surely enough I received my order Dec. 31st. So far my husband loves the Safe Cig. and we just ordered him refill cartridges. Keep up the faith, I was becoming skeptical myself and even checked the BBB. Good luck with your new smoke free venture!
I bought my husband the safe-cig and he loves it. I am a smoker of an ultra light cigarette and was wondering if there was something directed towards woman that was easier to inhale and has the option of a white tip?
You can get a strength level of 6 or 8, like ultra lights. Safe Cig, v2, and green smoke all offer these. White tip option, I believe only V2 has that. But let me get back to you I’m not around all my kits.
My pleasure, Andy. I’m always willing to try to help anyone who’s considering the switch to ecigs. Hope I’m not stepping on your toes with my input here.
To Jeaneen: I was a Marlboro Ultra-light smoker, and I found the lowest nic levels to be very unsatisfying. I’m now vaping the Safe Cig 14m Classic Tobacco, and it’s perfect for me. (Their Classic flavor is smoother than the regular.) Of course it’s all a matter of personal preference, but from what I’ve read, my experience isn’t uncommon. My advice to you would be to spend a little extra, and try out a couple of levels. If your smoking habit is on the heavy side frequency-wise, I’d lean toward a little higher level than the very lowest.
Hello, I have an NJOY Pro starter kit and I am using it to quit smoking real cigarettes. I never see them seen as the “best” so I was just wondering, is it possible to use different brand cartridge/atomizer with the NJOY battery? Or does the battery portion also make a difference between brands as far as quality? If not, will they work when I pair say, a Green Smoke cartrdige/atomizer with my NJOY battery?
Also, how often does the atomizer need to be changed if the cartridge does not also include a new atomizer attached (I have seen the new NJOY cartridges also have new atomizers so when you change the cartridge you also change the atomizer)?
Any steady smokers of NJOY out there? Personally I don’t use it with any regularity and my review was posted over a year ago with one slight modification in the last six months per some readers comments.
I ordered the Prado e-cig, unfortunately before I came across your reviews. Is it at least a good e-cig??? I guess I am stuck with it now but was wondering how it compares to the rest.
Patty, not sure…personally did not use it. Just posted that it was “free.” So much for that. Make sure you cancel immediately unless you are willing to be auto-billed and auto-shipped products in the future.
Cheers,
Andy
It’s more readily available at truck stops, but I don’t think the cartridges last very long. Do you know if the Safe Cigs are made in the USA? NJOY stuff is made in China and “tested” in the USA…
I am not sure – but I would guess they are made in China.
I want to Thank You for your website. I have just recently started searching for websites that offered the information that I needed. I found everything on your site. Thank you so much. I am going to order from safe cigs and will let you know how that turns out.
Great, certainly come back and post your review.
Hi Andy, thanks for this very useful blog on e-cigs. I am a long-time smoker (15+ years) and now I’m looking for an alternative to smoking real cigarettes. I have tried to quit smoking for so many times [and I have always succeeded to start smoking again
]. So, I am totally a newbie on e-cig and I have been researching online on which e-cig is best for me. I want to buy a starter kit. As this will be my first kit, I am kind of picky here and not wanting to spent too much for something I might not enjoy it. I found 510 Basic Kit from Efox for $39.97 shipped and Gold One Kit from Smokingeverywhere. I notice that none of these brands are in your reviews. However, I want your opinion if any of these two are worth trying based on your and your team’s experience. I appreciate your response.
I don’t smoke either of these long term. That’s for a reason, I’ve found better products. It’s personal preference I guess – but I also don’t have a serious among of experience in the brands you mention.
Andy,
I just pulled my old NJoy out of the closet. I bought it a couple years ago, but at the time the cartridges were too expensive. Today I discovered that my local tobacco store started carrying Cloud9 liquid. I’m still experimenting with refilling a cartridge and with the e-cig itself.
At this point, with my limited experience, I would say that the NJoy is well constructed, battery life seems decent, I’ve had no problems with the atomizer. Also, you really have to overfill a cartridge to get any liquid in your mouth due to the design.
Not yet sure if I’m happy with it. I’ll have to use it a few more days to make a decision. I suspect that I’ll try out some other e-cigs so I at least have something to compare this one too.
Thanks for posting this review. The info has been helpful!
Good morning Andy.
Any thoughts on Direct E-cig? They have a really good deal on a starter kit and I got it for my mother but havent seen any real reviews on the brand. Any advice would be great, thanks.
Bo,
I still haven’t tried it – I’m hoping to get one soon. I reached out to them to see if they would send me one but I haven’t heard anything. Usually with the free advertising I provide it’s not an issue….
Here is a link if you are looking for their free trial offer, as well as any other updates for 2011.

Hi Andy,I have always enjoyed smoking a 100 more than a regular length cigarette.I am wondering which product most resembles the a light menthol 100′s?Your website is so informed. Thanks so much.
Have a great day,
Kim S.
Green Smoke with a menthol cartridge. Go with a lower nicotine level. These are a tad bigger than regular tobacco cigarettes so you should get that “100 feel” right off the bat.
Please help. My son bought me the blucigs for christmas in hopes to get me off of the real thing. I smoke 120′s in ultra light and have smoked for 34 years. I was so excited to start these but am so disappointed. I can maybe get 1 good hit where it really feels like a real cigarette and lots of vapor so looks real too. but then nothing or barely nothing. I cannot afford to just try all different brands of ecigs, that is one of the reasons I need to get off the real thing. Is there really a good ecig out there that produces a lot of vapor for more than a couple hits? I see videos on the internet and it seems these people are getting good hits each time. I have already bought 2 cartons of the blu’s and still have carton that came with the starter kit. Please is there a brand you recommend. I heard the magma was good. Please help me fast. Thank you.Amy Weiler
Amy, you will really like V2 or Green Smoke or the Safe Cig. All will give you a more realistic experience to what you are smoking now. Blu is smaller by design and never has close to the vapor as the aforementioned brands.
Andy,
I’ve been using Blu Cigs for 2 months, just not satisfied. Started to read over all of the comments above and was thinking about trying another system. Went back to Blu Cigs home page and I see that they have redesigned their system – the cartridges now contain the atomizer. I think I will give it a try. One problem I was experiencing was that if I did not like one of the flavors and tried a different cartridge on the same atomizer, the same unpleasant taste was still on the atomizer.
Also discovered that I was not priming the e-cig. I hope that I am able to stick with Blu, as it seems to be more reasonably priced. I hope that the new cartridges provide more vapor also. I will be interested in hearing feedback from others.
Thanks,
Donna D.
Donna,
Keep us posted – your opinion is important to ME but more importantly, everyone who reads this blog for information about e-cigarettes.
Just noticed that Blu Cigs is no longer selling the vanilla flavored cartridges. I had been told by one of their customer service reps a month ago that this was one of their most popular flavors. Called Blu Cigs – first time I’ve ever been put on hold. The rep said they are receiving a lot of phone calls from people wanting the vanilla catridges. I imagine that is why my phone call was on hold. Hopefully they will listen.
Forget to mention, the cost of the cartridges with the atomizier has increased, but supposedly the flavor and vapor have increased also.
Interesting – I’ll have to follow up on why this may be the case. Will inquire and report back.
Andy,
Was referred to by a friend and tried his. liked the feel and smoke that came from the cignot ecig. I have not purchased yet as I am trying to all research before doing so in regards to which is the best to start with and not waste my money. Also, any preference on vg(more smoke) versus pg(more flavor). You may have mentioned earlier or someone else may have. I’ve read so much. Hard to keep track of.
(Edited because of too many links and conflict with other site)
Diane,
I had to edit your post due to too many links to outside sources. While your post looks genuine, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt minus posting links to the site you had questions about. The site you asked about could be a “scam” indeed – but I refuse to engage in any wars online with other websites, which is why I did not post the link for all to see. Whenever you see someone out there pumping one brand, while saying very negative things about another, it can be someone with an interest in that brand. I do my best to give honest reviews – if you look, I’ve outed several brands for tomfoolery and de-listed them. I’m also heavily relied on by the media for my insights.
Email me personally should you want to discuss further….andy AT bestecigarettesreview.com
I just recently decided to give e-cigs a try. I didn’t really know anything about them, so kind of researched a little online and decided on JoyCig. Ever heard of it? Used it?
I went with it because it was the most inexpensive starter pack I could find. I wanted to make sure that ecigs was something i would continue to use before spending a ton of money. Let me know what u think- i’m excited about trying them
Thanks!
No, never used it…heard of it, yes. Send me a link someone so I can read up, order up, and post a review.
I went away on vacation, and came back to realize I had almost no carts for my SafeCigs . After ordering and waiting for more, I finally had to resort to using my old GreenSmokes for a day or two. OMG, what a difference. SafeCig blows Greensmoke away by a thousand times in my book.
Different folks, different smokes.
Both are high quality products, just depends how “hardcore” you are and if you are really looking for that same tobacco taste – which I believe Safe Cig really has.
What do you know about Crown Lion?
Not a darn thing. do you have a link to the brand?
I am strongly considering trying an e-cig as I am a pretty heavy smoker and nothing has helped me quit. A friend of mine recently received as a gift the Safe cig and he mentioned that he is very happy with it. However, after seeing it and holding it I was somewhat disappointed that it felt nothing like a real cigarette in my hand and looked very phony to the eye. It also felt way too heavy and too big. Can you recommend an e cig that feels and looks more realistic and also is made in the usa. Thanks a lot.
Eric,
I don’t believe any batteries are made in the USA right now. As far as feeling like a real cigarette to the touch – it’s not going to happen. You are talking about a hard device versus something made of paper basically. You won’t ever find an electronic device made with paper.
It’s not heavy, per say, but compared to a weightless cigarette like you are accustomed to, I could see why you’d feel that way. The smallest e-cig I’ve seen is Blu Cigs, for what it’s worth. perhaps you’ll enjoy that brand if the others are too heavy for you.
Andy
Hi. A long time clove smoker and now that they have been banned and can’t even be snuck thru customs, I am going the e-cig route. I have several reviews that have given me an idea of where to go for the e-juice but am really confused about what works with what. Based on your reviews, I would like to try the SafeCig, but do I have to use their pre-filled cartridges? Also, how do you figure out what strength to use, my old Sampoerna Milds were @ 1mg. I don’t want to go nicotine free but also don’t want to overdo what I am not used to. Thanks!
If you are looking for juice, I’m not the right person to give advice as I only use cartomizer e cigarettes.
Strength information can be found in my FAQ section.
I ordered SmokeTip 2 weeks ago and had them in 3 days and so far I am very happy with them. The price is right and they are lighter wieght than some of the others I have tried. Glad to see others like them.
SmokeTip is simple, smart, and cost-effective. You won’t find any complaints about them from me! Thanks for sharing.
I have been using the preferred smoke company’s ego vapor-cigarette, awesome with a huge hit, the battery lasts all day and they have lots of flavors. quite a bit bigger than the others but not too bad if you are already used to the vapor-cigs. fast delivery, videos online and hints for cleaning the atomizer.
Preferred Smoke Company? Do you have a link? Wow, perhaps I need to work on “new brand reviews” all weekend, Lol.
Hi Andy,
I searched online for a little bit before I bought my first ecig today and now I am wishing I came here first lol. Obviously I haven’t received mine yet, but I purchased from PrimeVapor.com. Was wondering if you knew anything about them. I was actually looking for cartomizers rather then atomizers, but went with the atomizers. Is one any better than the other? Thank You
Never heard of them, Denise. But I suppose there will be many brands launching these days with the FDA’s latest decisions. I’d have to study that brand to answer your question. I’ll try to have a look later and see what their product design looks like. I always prefer a two piece, much easier.
Andy,
I’m looking for an E-cig that hits like a real cigarette. The one I have right now, E Health Cigarette, is more or less like smoking paper. Or smoking an ultra light cigarette. Can you recommend one that hits like a marlboro medium or red?
Thanks.
Dan
Dan,
The Safe Cig 24mg hits like a Parliament. Tone it down a strength level to 18 mg and you should get that Marlboro Red feel. Some other brands to consider, V2 Cigs, Green Smoke.
COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
I received the new Blu cartridges with the built in atomizer. They seem to produce more vapor. I’ve been a menthol smoke for over 30 years. I am not satisfied with the Blu Cigs menthol flavor. Although I previously had felt the vanilla was too sweet, I will finish off the cartridges I have, as they are better than the menthol. I would imagine there are lot of unhappy customers after Blu Cigs decided to discontinue the vanilla flavor.
I’ve ordered another economy kit today from Smoke Tip. I realize that everyone’s preference is different, I hope I am satisfied – otherwise I guess I better listen to our expert, Andy, and try one of the top three. Some of us may need to experiment with several different brands to see what works best for us; unfortunately it will hurt our wallets until we get it right. In the long run the health benefits we gain will outweigh the expenses. As I work in a hospital I’ve witnessed too many patients with COPD.
I will give feedback under the Smoke Tips comments of the website after I give it a fair try.
Thanks again Andy for all your effort and thanks to everyone who has posted their comments! Best of luck to everyone on this journey to finding the right e-cig!
Hi again!
Look, if you are satisfied with a brand and happy – don’t change your habits. Everyone has different desires and reasons why they use the electronic cigarette. I mean, look at cigarette brands. Marlboro, Camel, Kool, Winston, Doral, Bensn & Hedges, Parliament. We all like different brands for different reasons.
Thanks for the COPD clarification. Learn something every day. Looking forward to your thoughts on Smoke Tip. I personally am a fan.
Andy,
After researching several websites, comparing e-cig brands, reading hundreds of e-cig user reviews and reading your reviews, today I ordered my first e-cig starter kit from SmokeTip. After speaking with Kristi, the SmokeTip representative who returned my phone message to her within 10 minutes, I chose to go with the 16mg cartridges along with 0mg refills so that I can puff without inhaling too much nicotine, as the puffing is the part of smoking that I personally enjoy the most. SmokeTip was the most economical choice for me and I found the majority of reviews to be favorable.
I have been smoking for 28 years and with guilt for the last 10. This is the first time that I feel confident that I may be able to cut back and eventually quit the habit.
I want to thank you and all of those who participate in your posts for this. I am encouraged and will let you know how my first e-cig experience with SmokeTip goes.
Again, thanks to you and all of your participants.
Thanks Suzi, I look forward to hearing about your experience with Smoke Tip. Best of luck!
i just purchased in life prestige smokeless cig.$130.00..and im very unhappy with it. so hard to puff. very unhappy with product and having trouble returning it
i was told about bluetip..any opinions on that?
Chris,
I’ve never heard or either brand….which for me, is very rare. I know the market very well. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
i didnt do any research on these products, honestly i just learned of them..wish i wouldve read here first, alot of info. thanks!
think ill just go with smoketip.price is good. and kiss my $130.00 goodbye
thing is i bought it from my dentist. at the time of purchase they said “bring it back if ur not happy” and now they wont let me return it. but anyways lesson learned “do your research first before buying.well thanks again for all the helpfull info.
hope smoketip works for me.
Dentists are selling e-cigarettes? Or did I read that wrong?
I have been trying to quit smoking and just today started to read about methods that could help. I have always thought that all e-cigs were nicotine free, but from reading the different web sites I have visited, it appears I am wrong. What is the benefit of the e-cigs if you are still getting nicotine? Are they somehow safer than cigarettes?
Pat,
E-cigarettes contain about 10 carcinogens, while tobacco cigarettes contain over 10,000, from my research. They are also tobacco free. The benefits are clear, I could go on, and on. I suggest you read some of my past blog posts on the right hand side of the site, I update the site numerous times per week with reports, reasons I like e-cigs, etc.
Hi, I just read many of your reviews, but I’m still confused on which one to order..help! I’ve smoked Capri’s, the very skinny cig for toooo many years. I’m trying to quit and presently smoke just under a pack a day. So I want the most real like effect, but light weight, and don’t no what level of nicotene to start at? Goal is to get to 0! Also would prefer if they were made in the USA. The only one so far I heard that was made in usa is the “Smokestik” any info on them would be appreciated.
Go with Blu Cigs if you liked Capri’s, they have about the same size and feel.
What is your opinion on the vibe e-cig as a starter kit?
Never heard of it. Do you have a link to it?
Hi Andy,
I am about to order an ecig (probably safe cig), and after reading most of your posts, I have 3 questions:
1. I smoke Pall Mall lights (blue – standard length). Can you suggest the type of flavor and mg strength that would come close to that? And does The Safe Cig have that flavor?
2. I smoke less than half a pack a day – how many batteries would you suggest?
3. I have seen a couple of comments regarding nasty ingredients that can be in the vapor. Is this true of all ecigs? (safe cig is the one I’m thinking of buying). I don’t want to go from nasty additives in real cigs to nasty ones in ecigs.
Thanks Andy – you do good work here, my man.
Michael
Hmmmm….matching up an e-cig with Pall Mall. Probably the Safe Cig’s 24′s. Blue….you may have some issue finding that exact taste.
one battery is probably fine, it depends your ability to charge it and what your line of work or habits are.
Nasty ingredients? Hmmm. I don’t know of any, off hand. Perhaps you can expand that point and I can get back to you.
Thanks for the kind words, I’m here to help.
AG
Hi, My husband and I have been smoking for over 30 years each. (he Kool Lights, me Marlboro Lights) What would be for each of us the best, most affordable way to start with the alternative cigarette? (He smokes about 2 packs a day, me about 10 cigs a day) Just want to quit this habit and think this would be the best way!! Thanks for all the insight but are still confused where exactly to start. Thanks for any info.
The V2 brand makes a real nice menthol, which I believe is what Kool is typically. Marlboro lights would be a 12 mg of any of the top brands. Safe Cig, V2, Green Smoke. They are all priced around the same, it just depends if you want to order from the same brand and how many batteries you want, etc.
No ProSmoke? After trying a couple of the brands you reviewed and thought were great, I was highly dissapointed. Finally did some more research and found ProSmoke Electronic Cigarettes and couldnt be happier. Instead of using the comments secition, I tried to look for an email so it wouldnt be so public, but I thought I should at least give you a heads up that a couple of those brands sucked.

Spoke with Brends, she’s a big fan of Pro Smoke. I’m going to order a kit and get a review up after exchanging some information with Brends. Thank you, Brends, for pointing out a brand I should have reviewed and used a while back.
anybody familiar with vapor king?? I just bought a starter kit. Didn’t do a whole lot of research before the purchase so im hoping its good.
Which Vapor King? I believe a few brands use that moniker. I just tried the Vapor 4 Life Vapor King and found it very pleasant.
I thought the offer from this site was wonderful….$4.95 for starter kit…..Thought you could try it for the $4.95 and then if you liked product, you could just go back to site and reorder…..NO! You are enrolled in their automatic shipments every month at a VERY HIGH price. I ordered this for a loved one, who, by the way, has not even tried the product and now I am stuck with a big charge on my credit card. The point of this story is to read the find print or you could get screwed too!!!!!!!!
Clarissa,
Looks like this is the second, and last, free trial offer I’ll notify customers about after reading your review. The Prado free trial offer was not run well, and based on your feedback, if I get another poor review, I’ll just put out a warning to consumers and remove it from the home page.
Anyone else out there feel like it was a raw deal? Share your thoughts please….
I recently tried my first e-cig; stupid me, not doing any research first paid way too much for too little. I purchased a kit from global smoke; the nicotine gets everywhere and the filters last for days vice the weeks promised. Battery life sucks as well. It’s literally a hit or miss with this one, either I get a great full taste, or am left wishing I had told the little dude at the mall no. I do love their flavor, (they sell the refill liquid separately) and the button to activate the unit.
As for your top choices, have you had issues with leaking nicotine? Which ones, if any, have the button to activate the device? You commented on the FDA’s comments and changes in e-cig’s-what are e-cig companies trying to satisfy?
Thank you for your commitment to the cause, I love your reviews, wish I would have visited here first.
Hi Jennifer,
V2 and Vapor 4 Life have the push buttons you speak of. You should read the reviews I wrote on each as I have discount codes and full analysis of each. I’ve never had any leaking issues with those brands, nor the other top brands you’ll find here.
Which brand delivers the most real feel and the
greatest volume of smoke.
I’m thinking the V2 with the button?
Glenn
Hard to say. Greatest volume of smoke, yes V2 push-button.
As far as “real feel” The Safe Cig has a nice throat hit and tastes ultra real.
Thank you
Andy, I have a question. I’ve been happily vaping for almost a year, using Joye 510 and Joye eGo products from CigNot and MadVapes. Happy with the products and the great customer service. Yet, your very extensive and well thought-out reviews have missed them all. I did the search, and all came up no results found. Is there a possibility that you have just missed them? And is there a chance you might check into them in the future? And thanks for all the great information you have brought us.
Hi again RW. I have asked numerous people for a link to the Joye510 that you mention. I suppose I could “google it” but if nobody can find me a link or come back and report where to find it I usually chalk it up as a promotional post. (You would not believe how many IP addresses I have tracked from some people who come daily to rave about certain brands. It’s not that I don’t believe them, but when many people come in from the same IP, different name, and bogus email, it’s fishy.)
That said, RW, do you have a link to this product? I’d like to make an order and give it a test drive.
I am doing my own research on these “ecigs”. I want to try them but I also want to know how safe they are first. I was wondering if they have any cancer-causing carcinogens and what the overall benefit of switching to them would be. Can i smoke them as often as I smoke regular cigarettes? How long have you smoked them? Do you feel healthier?
I’ve been puffing e-cigarettes since fall of 2009. I smoke them about the same rate as I smoked tobacco smokes.
Do they have carcinogens? Yes. About 10 by most accounts. Cancer causing? I can’t comment on that – I don’t know which exact carcinogens cause cancer to be frank.
On the contrary, tobacco cigs have over 10,000 carcinogens. I’ll let you decide what you’d rather put in your body.
Thank you for answering my questions. I’ve discussed this with my husband and we have decided that we will try them. Do you know which ones are the least expensive? We do not want to spend a lot of money at first just in case we do not like them.
Blu Cigs is a top brand that is affordable. However, it all depends on which options you purchase. I.E. like buying a car, the base price +, +, +.
Hi Andy
I bought the safe cig after reading your reviews and have to say I really like it. The only thing is now they are having problems with American express and even worse they ran out of stock on most cartridges. So frustrating, I ordered got email items shipped then get another email it’s back ordered. Just want to warn people because now I’m in such a bind I have to look into another brand. Think I will try v2.
Andy,
A carcinogen is an agent known to cause cancer or carcinoma. All the chemicales in tobaco cigarettes are not carcinogens but most all will affect your body in a negative and unhealthy way. I have smoked for 38 years and have struggled with quitting many times and tried all the quit smoking aids with negitive side affects and alergic reactions. I was diagnosed with COPD with emphysema over 15 years ago and I also suffer from many of the conditions that a lack of oxygen and poor circulation cause. I have decided to give quiting one more try and purchase an e cigarette kit so here I am reading and doing research to decide which one will work best for me. Thank you for your research and input and it helps that you are not being paid by any of the products to give a biased opinion. Yes it is still nicotine and no it is not 100% healthy but it is not smoke which helped me get to where I am today. Unable to climb a flight of stairs or walk at the mall and play with my grandkids. I am only 53 years old and I have one regret in my life, I started smoking!
Merriam-Webster over here! Thanks Jan, and good luck in your quest to quit smoking. Your grandchildren will appreciate it.
Tonight I ordered the “free trial” for the e-cig for 4.95 shipping. It was not until the order was c0mplete and I checked my email that the terms and conditions were spelled out (At least I didn’t see this before I ordered). One is committing to a 99.95 order and automatic reorders. (I was doing this for a friend who’s doctor wants him to stop smoking.) I immediately called the toll free number and cancelled the order. The customer service person (Mary) was very nice and cancelled the order without trying to resell the offer.
Andy, just wanted to thank you for all of your fabolous reviews! You have gone above and beyond your call of duty, and you deserve some serious recognition. You have helped many people and I don’t know how many people tell you that your work is appreciated. Whether you make money from this site or not is your business, but the way I see it, you are a voice for the e-cigarette industry, and you are a positive one.
Keep up the great work and I hope you continue as an active member for e-cigarette promotion. You’ve got a fan in me.
Carrie
Means a lot to me, thanks for the kind words.
i am a very lighy social smoker and smoke between 5~10 per day Virginia Slim lights i dont smoke at all during the day and dont ever have a craving til i get home from work. i can even go for days without while traveling out of town i want the least amount offered and even think i could eventually do 0 ~ what would be your recommendation. have tried quitting all together but after a stressed day at the office i just really like to have one.
Suz, anything in a 6 mg or 0 mg would probably do you just fine and satisfy your cravings. Any of the top 5 brands should suffice.
*Re: Mary Beth’s comment: Thought I’d share my latest correspondence with the Safe Cig. It should be said, in their backorder notification of Feb 2, they said that they’ve had to deal with an unexpected increase in demand, and that they promise that this will never occur again. (They also privided me with a coupon for a free box of cartidges.)
I hope they’re true to their word, because despite the order problem, I absolutely love the Safe Cig product.*
Dear Safe Cig Team,
Any idea when my order will be sent? On Feb 2nd I was told 7-10 days, and still haven’t received notification.
And just curious… Why did you send me notification that my order was sent on Feb 1st, and then the next day tell me that it was backordered? My checking account has already been debited. I hope my order didn’t fall between the cracks.
I’m out $71 and I’m alternating between pilfering my husband’s 24mg carts and my old leftover Greensmoke crap- all of which is running out. What’s next? Smoking?
I’m not angry. Just frustrated and disappointed, because I’ve been so happy with your product up until now.
Emily M.
Hey I am out of safe Cig refills and have no idea when they will be available to order…. My question is what other ecig brand is comparable to The Safe Cig?
Comparable in what regards, Amber? Price? Taste? I need some more information and I’ll be happy to help you.
If you are looking for similar quality, try Green Smoke.
Im wondering what’s comparable to safe cigs throat hit and the taste of the traditional 18 mg refills…
Have to side with GreenSmoke on that one.
Great products, best customer service in the e-cigarette market.
Hi Andy!
I know you love Green Smoke, but after vaping the Safe Cig for months now, and having to go back to them out of necessity, it really is like apples and oranges. I was a cigarette-lovin’ heavy smoker, and for me, Greensmoke is barely keeping me smoke-free, no matter what the nicotene level. Safe Cig, on the other hand, has been satisfying enough because of its serious vapor hit, to make me forget about lighting up entirely. The only thing to me that GS has over SC, is the length of time the batteries last. But then again, it takes an eternity to recharge them.
Putting all personal experience/preference aside, it’s obvious the demand for ecigs is increasing faster than these companies can handle. (One reason I quit GS is because of its inventory problems at the time.) But the demand is a good thing! And another good thing, Andy… You’re providing a welcoming forum and a great service to those who want honest information.
Thanks!
Thanks for your kind words.
I really appreciate them. As far as preferences, different folks, different strokes. I don’t look for the huge throat hit, Green Smoke makes me feel a little better afterward personally. Safe Cig can make me feel like I had a tobacco smoke, something I’m trying to avoid. It’ all personal preference, just like with tobacco cigarettes. I mean how many brands are there? Kool, Winston, Doral, Marlboro, Camel, Parliament, Newport, etc, etc.
Thanks for your comments, and come back soon.
A clarification: When I said “go back to them out of necessity”, I was referring to Green Smoke.
I too received the same email from safe cig. Don’t get me wrong I really like it and hadn’t had any problem until now. It just bothers me that
T the only response we get from customer service is it’s going to be fixed “soon”. How about I said I’d pay soon! I’m all out and haven’t smoked in 8 wks just frustrated. So I ultimately ordered from smoke tip and they have been great customer service so well see:)
I just ordered a starter kit from South beach Smoke. It hasn’t come yet so I really don’t know what to expect, I’ve never used an e-cig and don’t know much about them but I started to research them yesterday, then ordered from South Beach and now am wondering if I did the right thing. I haven’t seen any comments about South Beach Smoke anywhere other than on their website…does that mean I made a bad decision? have you tried them? If so, what did you think?
Katie,
South Beach Smoke launched with a website that was identical to blucigs in design. I asked BluCigs if they were related in some fashion, and they strongly denied it. I also had a friend who had a bad experience with them, so I just decided not to consider them. As you said, I haven’t seen any overwhelming mentions of their brand anywhere either. Copying a website is a big no-no, and if a company does that, I question their integrity.
Please report back your experience and best of luck.
I ordered a disposable e-cig from Breathe Fresh. When I placed the order there was a confirmation saying I would get an e-mail with the tracking info. I waited three days and I decided to contact them. I called the number on the website and it rang and rang until finally a voice mail picked up. I thought this was odd since most companies have an automated service at the beginning of the call. However it was late in the evening when I called so I didnt think much of it. I left a message and they promptly returned my call the next morning. They said their server was down and that he had resent the e-mail and said that I would receive this within 5 minutes. That has been almost 6 hours so I thought I would call the number again. I did and got the same voice mail after several rings. I am starting to get concerned. I can’t find any reviews about this company except for one site. I am wondering if you have you ever heard of them?
Never heard of them, which could mean one of two things.
1. They are a fly by night company. Did you look for information about them prior to ordering?
2. They are brand new and don’t have any staff…..could be…
Anyone out there hear of these guys?
Yes breathe fresh was the first co I dealt with ecigs. I never had a problem with orders or customer service by email. I did try and call them a few days ago about Amex and I too just got ringing and no answer. I ended up leaving a message and they did call me back. It’s a descent product IMO but think smoke tip and safe cig are better.
I did get a call back and they finally sent the tracking info. They said they had the email address wrong, even though I swear I entered it correctly. The tracking order did confirm the shipment is on the way! I have read in a few reviews that safe cig makes a slight crackling when in use and that the tobacco flavor is slightly better with breathe fresh. Any thoughts on this?
To my knowledge the Safe Cig does not work with any other outside cartridges, and I know for a fact they advise against it. I don’t know if there is a purpose behind the constant Breathe fresh mentions?
Sorry was just trying to help Chelsea no purpose meant in my post!
No worries Mary Beth, thanks for dropping by again.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for all of the great information! I have a question – I am somewhat new to e-cigs, I bought my first one just about 2 months ago. I got it at a tobacco store, it’s the Fifty-One duo – I wish I had done more research before purchasing! For a first-timer, I have nothing to compare it to. What I am looking to do is quit smoker “regular” cigarettes for good! I’m doing quite well all and all, however I’m looking for something that is extremely affordable, gives a great throat hit, lots of vapor and good taste (I usually smoke non-menthol cigarettes). One of the problems I’m having is I really like the ease of just going to a store to buy re-fill cartridges-I’m not thrilled about having to constantly order on-line, however, if that is what I have to do to get what I’m looking for, I will deal with it! At the moment, I’m sort of torn between possibly ordering Blu or Smoke Tip. With my habits, any suggestions you may have as to which one I may prefer would be greatly appreciated! (Also, with regular cigarettes, depending on my day, I was smoking anywhere from a half pack to a pack a day, Pall Mall lights (yuk, but they are the cheapest!). Thanks again and have a great day!!
Hi Lisa,
Right now, the only “sure thing” to get cartridges easily and without worrying about “what ifs” are ordering online. E-cigarettes have an uphill climb until they will be carried as a mainstream product (with a healthy supply to boot) in any store. For now, it’s a guessing game as to supply and demand. however, when you order direct from a company like Smoke Tip or Blucigs as you reference, you won’t have to worry. V2 does a great job of discounting quantity cartridge buys, you may want to give them a good look. I also have a coupon code for you there – use “andyg”
Andy
Whoops! Sorry about a couple of typos!!
Thank you very much for your prompt response and the information! (For anyone who is wondering, again, I’m not all that thrilled with the fifty-one duo! – When it’s working good, the hit and vapor are great – other times you get nothing..the battery life isn’t that great either, but it does recharge pretty quickly.)
Andy,
You said Blusigs starter kit comes with 25 cartridges. Had online “chat” with them – no, starter kit comes with 5 cartridges. Older ones used to come with 25.
Thank you Phyllis, I’ll update that now. I have the new kit here but it’s not opened yet – thanks again.
Well I hate researching anything on the internet. Too many gimmicks and not enough to the truth information. I just wanted to say I like the site. All your reviews and comments were very helpful. I promised my daughter recently that I would quit smoking and I intend to hold up my end of the bargain. Hoping e-cigarettes are as good of an alternative as all the studies and reviews I have read. Plus I always like a discount, so hopefully your codes help out. I am currently deployed overseas and APO mail is a nightmare to start with. Who has the best reputation for shipping speeds/reliability vs cost? I just don’t to order anything and still be waiting on it when the war is over. Plus I would like to make the switch asap.
Sgt G,
Reputation-wise, nobody beats Green Smoke. Use the discount code and enjoy the e-cigarette. I’m here should you have any questions.
I imagine you are over in Iraq?
My hat goes off to you, SGT. We’re proud of you.
Yes sir.Thank you. Yeah I guess my biggest question was who can reliably get not just the starter kit but also refills here in a speedy manner. The mail issue here is so infrequent that ordering something like this is kinda touchy price wise since i’m gonna want to start with a decent supply to test out how long cartridges last and such. So the initial investment will be rather pricey I’m sure. However if I’m going to make an honest go at this thing I don’t want to run out and go back to smoking cigarettes. I understand that GS is one of the more expensive brands from what I have read. You still think it’s worth it to start with them?
I would email GreenSmoke.com to make sure of the shipping, first. Better off confirming they ship to your exact location, but i can probably assume safely that they will. It may be pricey, but I’d also load up on cartridges as the mail situation doesn’t sound good. (I can relate, I lived in Central America for a while.)
Best of luck to you SGT G.
hello,
my first free trial e-cig from directecig.com arrived today. it is a disappointment so i went online to do some research and now i still believe in e-cigs thanks to this website. so, the first 10-20 puffs were ok if you dismiss the irritating wheezing/whistling noise that this e-cig produces as you “vap” on it. being a rolling tobacco (drum) smoker i could also use a stronger hit and higher smoke volume. after initial puffs, the smoke volume on the directecig.com went down to almost 0 and i resorted back to rolling up. thank god i was at least wise enough to do a trial offer. i am returning this rubbish back to florida tomorrow…
also, why do they make “filters” ie cartridges from rigid material? some kind of soft rubber-like material would feel more like a real cig and would be more comfortable in the mouth. i am also not sure if this is the case with all e-cigs but this one has a little 1/16 diameter hole at the top of the plastic “filter” that lets vapor out — this design will inevitably produce a silly whistling noise. imo, it should be some kind of a porous screen, not a hole…
in any case, from what i read here safecig seems like a right choice for a hard core euro smoker like me. are there any other high + consistent smoke volume, hard hit brands i should consider in my situation?
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
hello again,
looks like Joye eGo might be a good choice for me. i don’t care how it looks as long as i get as close to hard core smoking as possible because this gives me the best chance to actually quit my unhealthy love-hate relationship with drum tobacco.
however, i am very confused about the difference between different kinds of eGo starter kits:
Joye Absolute eGo (and then there is type A and B)
Joye Absolute Mega
Joye eGo
can somebody please help clarify.
Hi Andy, I wrote a few days ago and asked about South Beach smoke..then after reading your response I pulled up blucigs webpage side by side with the South beach one and saw what you were talking about, they are deffinitely similar. So I was thinking “OH NO, what have I done?” anyways, I recieved my starter kit 3 days ago and although I’ve never tried any e-cig before and have nothing to compare it to, I am very pleased with South Beach. It took something like 10 days to get it in the mail, that seems like a really long time but other than that I think it’s great. I’ve already ordered more cartomizers and I have not had a regular ciagarett since opening the starter kit (which was ultimately my reason for getting e-cigs in the first place) so like I said i’m very pleased. This is my first impression, and I thought I’d share it with you. thank you very much for getting back to me with your ideas and expertise.
I have another question.. can I interchange different brands of cartomizers with other company’s batteries? I mean would I be able to order an e-cig from green smoke (for instance) and use it with cartomizers from South beach?
Hi Katie,
Thanks for your comments. Regarding cartomizers, I’ve covered this on numerous occasions – while SOME models and brands may swap out with one another, most companies void the warranty and advise that you do not do such a thing. I’ve found that while some cartridges do fit properly, they don’t always provide the same amount of vapor and they aren’t as potent as when they are with their “meant to be” brand. Does that help answer your question?
Hello all! This is a great blog with tons of info and comments. I tried to read all comments, but I didn’t see any asking for a comparison to Newports. Hopefully I’m not asking a question that has been asked already.
So my brother smokes almost 2 packs of Newports a day. Hes getting bad, so my sister and I need to help him quite. I am willing to spend a good amount if that will buy a higher quality of e-cig. So my question to you Andy Gray is this: if money wasn’t an issue, and you smoked regular Newports (1-2) packs per day, which one would you recommend?
Thanks to all for the help!
RootBeerGod,
Green Smoke.
Hi there! I really do appreciate your reviews, and looking at the different comments it looks like I will go with Blu. However, I am 18, a pack a day smoker who has an oral fixation problem (sucked my thumb until I was 16 and got a tongue piercing) and have become somewhat of a smoke lover. I like the feeling, basically. I want to take myself off of real cigarettes simply because they have taken a toll on my health. I was just wondering if you thought my original choice was the best for me (: thank you!
Kindest regards,
Katherine
Hi Katherine. Tongue rings are hot, there is nothing wrong with that.
I’m sort of in your boat, in a way. I have ADD and the “action” of smoking is something that I’m more addicted to over all else. Blu Cigs is a popular choice among women, so I think you made a great decision. If you want to tell me any further details about your smoking preferences via email perhaps I can give you more insight.
Andy AT bestecigarettesreview.com
Yes Andy you answered my question. Thank you!
Andy,
Tremendous job with the e-cigarette review website. I have looked at 100′s of sites, and it appears they all have a mission – to sell me something. I even saw one site with three reviewers and a chart of 20 brands, and all of them had these glowing reviews. I don’t understand how someone can truly “LOVE” 20 brands? Why not just tell consumers they should buy any brand out there? You seem to tell it like it is, and really do have the consumers in mind as you pen these reviews.
My question today, as I’ve spent a lot of time on the site. I know you are a Green Smoke Smoker, but it appears you have been at this site for a while. Is there any time you wavered to other brands? Do you smoke them because they were the best back when you started this site? Do you just like them because of their amazing service, which you say numerous times on this site? Or is it truly the best electronic cigarette in the universe right now?
Sorry to grill you, but I didn’t know how often you update the site or how far behind other brands may be. If you could take some time to answer my questions I’d be so grateful.
Geoff, (you spell your name very cool, my buddy growing up spelled it the same way)
Thanks for your kind words. It means a lot to me. Let me address your chief questions and touch on what you asked.
Many sites out there claiming to be “review sites” are nothing more than sites designed to sell anything you read about. For that reason they won’t say anything bad about a brand or device. To say that 20 brands are the “best” is absurd, as you point out. If you came across a site like that, I’d tell you to see if the information you read about was just garbage puked out that they read off the manufacturers website.
For this reason I ordered every kit you read about on this site. In the rare case I didn’t the manufacturer sent me a kit on the arm due to the popularity of this blog. Trust me, I’ve thrown many e-cigarette starter kits in the garbage after using them. I normally encourage people to be positive, so I don’t say bad things about them on the website – instead I leave them off. I even point out when brands aren’t shipping on time or when they are doing business on less than the up-and-up. I am here for consumers and have carved out a nice niche as an expert on the subject – mainly because I’m honest and subjective. My media exposure backs this up.
As far as your Green Smoke question, you are pretty much dead on with that assumption.
I started off using Green Smoke and at the time, Green Smoke was above and beyond all other e-cigarette brands. At the time, no other brand offered a two piece design. Also at the time, Green Smoke and Blu Cigs were the only brands doing major marketing. They were 1 and 2 in my book and probably the same with consumers according to comments left on this very blog that date back to that time period.
2010 arrived and new brands surfaced. The Safe Cig’s devices are natural tasting and “old school” in a way – I’m a big fan of their stuff. I smoke it regularly, in fact.
V2 Cigs, which I didn’t get ahold of until late in the fall of 2010, hit the market with a bang. They have a great product and are growing VERY RAPIDLY, Are they as good at making a product as Green Smoke? Yes, I’d say so. The reason Green Smoke is what I smoke the most often is mainly the same as anything else in life that grows on you.
If you drive a Honda Civic and get a new one every 3 years, you know what it has and what you get. If your service is great at the local shop and you know everyone by name, why switch? That’s sort of my attitude with Green Smoke – they are my trusty, always on point Honda Civic. Sure, I test drive V2 Cigs and other brands QUITE OFTEN. But, like cars, clothing, and brands of hair products, there is always a newer, fresher, “better” brand. Same concept here.
I could switch to V2 Cigs tomorrow and be perfectly happy. Safe Cig, same thing. But again, it’s comfort and service, going back about two years now.
Years ago, the gap was HUGE. Now, with all the advancements, it’s closing. Will Green Smoke always be the Michael Jordan, the best ever, of e-cigarettes? Who knows? Maybe some huge advancements come out and other companies adapt a new technology and leaves them behind. We all saw how Apple Computers went from industry giant, to nobody, to giant again. Things change.
Sorry to get long-winded there, but I think you got my point. If anyone has questions, or if I confused anyone, just holler.
Last time when looking to lease a car, I test drove a Honda, and ended up with an Infiniti… because it was better made, made me happier and cost less because of its residual value.
That said…
I’ve had a freakin’ NIGHTMARE experience with my beloved Safe Cig. They ran out of most cartridges at the end of January, and rather than say so, they LIED about it. I can’t possibly go into it all- the back and forth and my frustration, but I’ll offer my last email at this point:
>Dear Safe Cig,
Whoever has control of your Public Relations needs a good swift kick in the butt, and then some.
Let me give you a few suggestions for next time:
1. You need a PHONE NUMBER for customer service. Email doesn’t cut it in certain circumstances. When people are pissed, they want to SPEAK to someone.
2. When you’re in a pickle, you need to expand your hours of operation, and if you are doing so, you must let customers know this.
3. Response to your customers should be PRIORITY. Don’t leave customers hanging…EVER.
4.Make sure your inventory is up to date on your website, and PROMINENTLY post inventory shortages.
5. BE HONEST.
6. BE HONEST.
7. BE HONEST.
You were NOT honest.<
During the waiting time for my Safe Cig cartridges, I went back to Green Smoke. To me there is NO COMPARISON. I want my Safe Cig! Safe Cig offers a superior product, in my opinion.
And along the way I was offered a brand called "Nuvo", sold on the side by a woman who works in a store I frequent. I tried it out, and it was so awful, it was enough to make me quit vaping forever. Bleccchhh!… Yeccchhh!!!
Yikes. I’ve shared a lot of the recent experiences with the Safe Cig contact I have – hopefully action is taken soon to get their brand back on the right track.
Hi Andy
You have done a great job with your blog. I’ve been a smoker of menthol cigs for 20 years and have quit in the past for 3 months at a time but have always started back. I wanted to try the e cigs in hopes of kicking the habit for good but was dissapointed to discover nicotine in the green smoke. I can’t consider myself smoke free with nicotine being released from product. Now a days Insurance companies and hospitals are testing for nicotine and premiums are doubled in cost and some companies won’t hire a person tested positive for nicotine. Are there ecigs out there just as good as green smoke that don’t contain nicotine?
Hi Lorraine,
Yes. Most, if not all brands of ecigs offer 0 mg cartridges which are nicotine free. Email me if you have any questions on which ones as I’m short on time today to post much .
andy @ bestecigarettesreview.com
well i got my smoketip charged it up for 7-8 hours and instantly when i took a hit, it burned my lips. im so disappointed being this is my second product ive tried. could there b something wrong with it? does it always get hot?
I’ve never had a “Hot product.” Interesting – what other brand did that to you?
ok problem solved, i contacted them.they said to change the cartridge and it worked ! im so excited. i guess maybe there as something wrong with that one ! marlboro industry just lost another customer !
thank you smoketip!!
only the smoketip did that (got hot) BUT i changed the cartridge…problem solved…the other one i bought is called inlife royal, paid 130.00, doesnt work at all, it actually gives me a headache trying to hit it. so i took it back to my dentist and he gave me a new one and it doesnt work either.i called the company direct they said ” if its been opened u cant return it” go figure !
BUYER BEWARE!!!
Be very careful when ordering a trial from DirectECigs. When you order, if you don’t like them be sure to call or contact them immediately. They automaticly bill your credit card for a monthly supply, they ship automatic. My $4.95 trial cost me $109.90. My 14 days were up on Friday 3/5, called Monday 3/7 they would not take the product back or credit my card. This product is not very satisifing. Just received the V2 Cigs. They are GREAT!!! I am very unhappy with the DirectEcig product.
57 year old off & on again smoker. Husband bought me a kit at the mall in Dec 2010. WOW! Changed my life. The way I smoke, the way I think about myself, I feel healthier, stress & guilt took a nose dive. Since then, I found Green Smoke which I have found to be far superior to the mall variety (great customer service, higher quality product), I now am working to make a business as a distributor & rep for Green Smoke. I know that with more people switching over, feeling better, will overcome the ridiculous restrictions that the various government entities – who are worried about losing revenue from the tobacco companies – are scrambling to figure out how to restrict this fabulous, life enhancing product. Vape on!
Congrats Karen, and welcome to the site. Glad you are part of the revolution!
I smoke Carlton cigarettes which supposedly has less than one milligram of nictotine. I want an e cigarette with approximately the same, certainly don’t want to go with higher nicotine. Wich brand do you suggest for low nicotine?
Jill,
Most brands out there sell a 6 mg nicotine cartridge or even a 0 mg – those are the lowest levels.
Please, please, please…HELP! I’ve bought three different e-cigarette kits and am going nuts. I really don’t want to smoke and have tried to quit so many times. I am still smoking, so I’m still unsuccessful in my attempts to quit.
I’ve been smoking for 33 years, and a “hardcore” smoker for probably 28 of them. I think all hardcore smokers want the same thing: to feel like they’re smoking a real cigarette when they smoke an e-cigarette.
I don’t think the real smoking experience will ever be truly replicated, but there are a few very important features for me that MUST be present in an e-cigarette to help get me off real cigaretts:
1) I NEED the throat hit. Andy, you said the throat hit isn’t your priority, which is why I think I would avoid Green Smoke. As well, when I called Green Smoke about that, the representative didn’t even know what that term meant (not a smoker, and no one around to help him with the question). So, my question: Which e-cigarette offers the BEST throat hit? Seriously, if it doesn’t feel like I’ve just had a drag of a cigarette, what’s the point? I find myself either sucking my brains out or hyperventilating to get the hit.
2) Is vapor production associated with the best throat hit?
3) I’ve noticed that the closest sensation to regular smoking is during exhalation. Which e-cigarette provides the closest when it comes to inhalation?
4) Is the size of the atomizer associated with throat hit or vapor or both?
5) Which e-cigarette tastes the most like regular tobacco? All three of my e-cigarettes have a sweet taste to the tobacco. I’m thinking that’s a result of the glycerin.
6) Aside from Andy’s response, I would really appreciate hard core smokers to chime in, in response to my questions (my pleas!)
BTW – none of my e-cigarettes delivered a satisfying experience and they also all made my throat feel raunchy (even with lower nicotine levels) and I ended up feeling (pardon the graphic expression) “phlegmmy.”
The bottom line: Which is the best e-cigarette that most closely resembles tobacco cigaretts in throat hit, taste and vapor? I don’t care about the cost, so this isn’t part of my question. I want a bang, not bang for the buck. Thanks so much.
Lauren,
I’m going out for a minute but if you can reply with what three brands you’ve used, I’m curious. I’ll attack your 6 questions once you clarify that for me so I can know which types you disliked and do my best to make a recommendation from there.
Andy
Well Glory Hallelujah, my Safe Cigs are on the way!
Lauren, I’m going to go out on a limb and put my personal- albeit anonymous, reputation on the line… Safe Cig has assured me (and I’m sure hundreds/thousands of others) that they will NEVER have the inventory problems they’ve recently had, ever again. If we can hold them to their word, then I strongly recommend their product to anyone looking for a super throat hit. I can’t imagine anything topping it, and it is a VERY “cigarette-like” experience. That’s why I’m sticking with them, despite their major screw-up over the last month.
Hi Lauren, Wow!!! When I read your post I felt like I had written it myself! I am in the same exact boat you are in and have the same exact questions. I currently have a Fifty-One duo that I was able to buy at a tobacco store. When the batteries have just been charged, and you have a brand new cartridge, it’s great, however, that whole situation doesn’t last very long! Also, every time I buy a box of 5 cartridges, at least 1 doesn’t work; 1 time 3 of them didn’t work! About 3 weeks or so ago, I ordered a Safe-Tip cig…I received it super fast, however, it was absolutely horrible! I followed the instructions to a “T”, and got the highest nicotine cartidges, and they tasted like I was smoking plastic! So, I sent it back. Another thing with them is, although their customer service was excellent, just after I ordered it, my credit card company called with suspicous activity that turned out to be someone trying to use our card, that we have had for about 23 years and this is the first time this has ever happened to us. I’m hoping it was just a coincidence! After a huge amount of research, I have decided to order the V2…keeping my fingers crossed and I will keep you posted!!
Andy,
I purchased BluCigs about 3 weeks ago. It takes 6+ batteries per cart. After multiple contacts with the BluCig customer service someone finally told me that the info. on their web site is old and applies to the old carts without the atomizer. This person told me that it would take 3 batteries per cart. I am wondering if you could recommend a brand that has batteries that last. Or is this normal with e-cigs?
Are any of the brands interchangeable? Like could I buy better batteries from someone else and use the BluCig rechargers and carts? I also now realize that I need a car charger and BluCig does not offer them.
I would maybe just return the BluCigs for a refund and start over but I would probably have to pay for express shipping to get it returned in time.
Thanks for your help!
Shelley,
It’s not advisable to change brands and carts, it breaks all the guarantees and even if they “fit” they often don’t perform as expected. As far as batteries not lasting as long as you’d like, I would suggest switching to V2 Cigs, they seem to have a nice long lasting battery from my experience. If you act before 3-21, you can use this code: AndyG311 to save 15%. After 3-21, you’ll be able to get a 10% off with “AndyG”
Thanks. How many batteries on average would you say it takes for one V-2 cart?
Do you know if I could use another brands car charger with my BluCig?
Shelley,
Not sure about the car charger. I have seen some brands that have “copied” the Blu Cigs style so they may be compatiable as as ASSUME they are made at the same factories. One I just tested was SMOK, and others that have the charging pack may be suitable.
Most people report 2-3 batteries for the V2 Cartridge, I believe someone just posted that. I never really look as I always charge mine on my computer as I work so it’s always fresh.
Hey Yall, Im a 2 pck a day smoker, been smoking for 30 years and currently smoke Misty menthol 120s. Need any advise from anyone who has used e cigs, on what would be best for me. Thanks for any suggestions!!!!
Donna
Hi Donna,
The good ole Misty Menthol’s! I knew a few gals that smoked those. For menthol, I personally like Green Smoke and V2 Cigs. Other menthol’s aren’t as “minty” if that helps. I’ll let others chime in as well and give advice.
Hi Andy,
E cigs must really be taking off, because your site has picked up some serious speed lately.
Emily,
Thanks for the comments. E cigs are here to stay. My site has grown a lot since I just put up a blog for my own use a couple years ago. The awareness grows each and every day. I am just doing my part to save the environment and hopefully a few lives along the way. Thanks for stopping by and come back soon.
Andy
Hi Andy and everyone! I have a question…can anyone give me a comparison of NJOY vs. V2? (The duo’s, with disposable cartridges, not the trios). I’ve read great reviews on V2, however I’m experiencing the same problems everyone else is…TOO LONG TO GET!!!!! I see the NJOY everywhere, but I just don’t know if it will measure up and if I should just be patient with V2. (Unfortunately, the stores I have gone into to look into it don’t have a sample I can try!) I currently have a fifty-one duo, and I am so darn frustrated with their cartridges! Every single time I buy a box of 5 cartridges, at least 1 doesn’t work…sometimes up to 3 don’t work in 1 box. I really, really want to just “vape” and not smoke “analogs”, but with the cartridge situation, I’m still smoking because I run out of cartridges too quickly. Just a bit of background – I’m looking for the same exact “experience” Lauren is looking for – great vapor, good “throat” hit and good taste. I tried the Smoke Tip and found it absolutely horrible. Any information would be very helpful. Thank you Andy and friends for all of you input, I greatly appreciate it! This is a great forum and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Andy,
I’m gonna do it!! I think the brand that will work best for me based on the customer reviews is the Safe Cig. So if I smoke Marlboro Lights, which flavor and strength should I purchase? I want the closest and most realistic experience to smoking my Marlboros : )
Paula,
Look for a mg level around 10 – 12 mg. (some brands differ) That should give you nicotine but in ‘light’ flavor.
Hi Andy,
I stumbled across your site and I’m glad taht I have I am VERY interested in purchasing one of the electronic cig but there are just soooo many to choose from. Some seem to be a bit on the pricey side too, but if they work to quit smoking then I guess you really can’t put a price on the your life or the lives of my family that is around the second hand smoke on a daily basis. I actually have almost quit smoking myself about a month ago, I got sick with bronchitis and wasn’t able to smoke during the time of my illness and I just decided not to start back up. The reason I say ALMOST quit is because I have smoked about 8-10 cigs over the past month on days where I just needed a little something. Only smoked about 1/2 – 3/4 of the cig because it was just yucky tasting really but I miss the action of smoking I guess it just gives me something to do….so for myself I am looking for something with the smoking feel without the nicotine so I would get the omg nicotine but there are a couple family members that I would like to present this to like my husband and my son. I found a site not sure if you have ever tried them or even heard of them but their product seems alot cheaper than Green Smoke:
Smoking Everywhere
Just wondering if anyone has any input about the product from this site, just wnted to hear from you or your audience before I think about actually placing an order
Thanks so much!
Veronica,
I’ve seen this brand in the malls for the most part. My advice, don’t skimp on product quality. A low price tag usually means poor quality. Yes, e-cigs can be expensive, but you are investing in technology.
Anyone else with thoughts on Smoking Everywhere, please chime in and feel free to steer Veronica in the right direction.
Hi Andy and fellows,
how long does 1 cartridge last of SafeCig?
Thanks,
RyanM
RyanM-
Depends on several factors, but it’s usually about equal to one pack of cigarettes.
Hello,
After reading your articles I purchhased the Safe Cig. I like it very much but it is too heavy. I have to hold it with my thumb and pointing finger. Would you be able to recommend a lighter version of the safe cig please? I smoke low menthol. Thank-you.
Sonya,
Lighter in weight?
Andy help!
I am torn between Blu and V2 cigs. I smoke camel menthol silvers right now and don’t like anything but menthol for the most part. I smoke about a half a pack a day or less so I’m not a big smoker, but I still want to cut back. All my friends have blu which would make it easy for me to get one too. However everything I have seen and read about V2 makes me curious. I liked the blu but I’m not so sure about the menthol flavor. I like the assortment of flavors V2 has and the manual design looks seems like something I would like. So I am torn between the two brands and would like your opinion. Thank you Andy
P.S. can you tell me at all if the two brands are interchangeable? Like if I can put a v2 cartridge on a blu battery?
If you like Menthol, smoke Green Smoke or V2 Cigs. The brands are NOT interchangeable (nor is Blu)
Hi Andy,
I also just want to say thank you for having this site. After hours of research I finally found your site and it was the first one that didn’t feel like I was being sold something. The info here was real and true. Based on all the posts here I have ordered the Safe Cig and am just waiting for delivery(next time will pay for faster shipping) I am so excited to try these out and sure hope they work like it sounds. I should have my safe cigs here on Thursday night so will let you know what I think of it. Thanks again for all the honest help you give people on this site.
ok, so i am wandering if the vapor from smoketip, is like second hand smoke? is it safe to smoke around kids? ive always smoked outside, never in my house nor around my kids…
Chris,
Vapor is not even close to second hand smoke. It evaporates pretty fast, like 1-3 seconds. You can smoke around anyone as it’s a water vapor that emits zero odor.
Hi There,
I was wondering if anyone (andy or his bloggers) can give me a little advice. I bought the startup kit from BluCig, and at first i didnt like it at all, I’m thinking because I was expecting it to be much more like a tobacco cigarette. I then went to a local tobacco store and bought a kit made by a company called “No. 7″ – it gave more vapor than the BluCig, but I had bought three different cartridge flavors, and was very disappointed that they all tasted the same- like PLASTIC!!!!! – anyway, I have come to love the BluCig, as it had more flavor, But i am planning on buying at least two more different kits, and my questions for everybody are this—–1) between “green smoke” and “V2 cigs” which one would have a more bold flavor (not just tobacco, but other flavors as well), and 2) which one between “green smoke” and “V2 cigs” and “safecig” -which one has a most realistic tobacco taste/flavor??
I am going to buy 2 of the 3 brands i mentioned, and I am just looking for some input, thank you in advance.
Andy, thanks for starting this blog, it helped me tremendously in getting info on the ecig scene………
Hi Jeremy,
Real quick, here are some tips.
Most authentic tobacco taste – safe cig
Most vapor – V2
Best taste and vapor among flavors and best customer service (sort of an all around statemnt to this brand) – Green Smoke
If I had to give you two right now, I’d say Green Smoke and V2. the tobacco taste is there with The Safe Cig, but after that, big difference in other aspects.
I like the fact that Blu cartridges are manufactured in US. Is that also true of the cigs themselves? And also, are there cartridges with no nicotine or extremely low?
Thanks for your help on this! I appreciate it.
My experience with Greensmoke is that it has considerably more vapor than the cheap brands, but much less than the Safe Cig. I’ve not tried V2, so can’t compare it. It would amaze me if the V2 has much more vapor than Safe Cig though… Safe Cig has super vapor as well as real tabacco taste. Green Smoke’s most outstanding feature in my mind, is their customer service. Safe Cig could stand improvement in this respect… They correspond only through anonymous email. When I have a question or problem, I want an immediate response, and want a real person on the other end who can be held accountable for information. Safe Cig’s website states that there will be a live chat feature in the future. Hope so.
Andy
I would suggest looking into the Apollo, Volcano, and SmokeTip brands. I can say your site has helped me in making my decision in which I purchased, but found these three had an impressive amount of positive reviews on other ecig review sites. I understand you are but a lone man taking on reviewing all of the products out there in this industry, hopefully with these three product suggestions, maybe even you could be turned on to a new favorite product. Thank you for your efforts here.
Bryan
Sup Andy,
All these comments really helped me in making my decision to go with SafeCigs. Just ordered them the other day and will be here in a couple days. Hopefully it’s the right choice for me since i use to smoke Marlboro menthols. Well I received the other brand I got called Luci. Very disappointed in them because it tasted like nothing. Vapor wasn’t enough. To even get a little throat hit, i have to suck on it with full might which is not pleasurable at all. I can’t wait for my SafeCig to get here!
I have had my safe cig now for 5 days and I haven’t even had the urge for an analog(or a stinky as I call them now) cig in any way shape or form and I have been a pack a day smoker for over 25 years. This e cig is the bomb. I love the flavor, the vapor, the throat hit and the price. Is way cheaper than analogs. This thing is amazing and I highly recommend it. Like the others have said, there is a customer service issue but they seem to be getting it together. Right now my question is that their shipping policy says they use usps and my order says ups. When I ordered my starter kit I had to email them for the tracking number but I did get a response that same day so that was good. I ordered refills on Saturday and still haven’t gotten my tracking number for this order but will email again tomorrow if I don’t get it by then. But as far as the cig itself I am so so so happy that I started with this one and am having great luck. My mom is even going to order one and she has been smoking for almost 40 years. This is almost a too easy way to quit. Is totally painless and that is what I like to have…..Thanks Safecig
Hi Andy,
I was wondering what your thoughts are on this. I have a fifty-one duo – not the best, but I’m going to get a different one soon. In the meantime, I bought a box of Vanilla flavor cartridges from my local tobacco store; apparently, maybe they forgot to remove this sticker on the bottom of the package, but it says “not intended for sale in the United States”. That really raised a red flag for me! I think I’m going to take it to the store and say “what is this about?” How can they be selling them here? Just curious! Thanks!
Hi again Lisa,
Wow, I don’t even know what to say about that….”not for sale in the US?” That is weird! 51 is located near me in South Florida, so I’m shocked they would have that. Hmmm….if I knew someone there I would ask. I’ll have to get on that for you.
Thanks for posting!
Hi! Thank you for responding so quick! Yes, I was quite shocked also! I know their cartridges are made in China…maybe they shipped the wrong ones! lol I’m not all that thrilled about the fifty-one duo, I’m using it until I can get another brand. I’ve decided to go with your advice – to get a good e-cig, you pretty much have to order on-line! Because I’m not all that into flavors, after reading all the reviews, I think I will probably go with The Safe Cig…I was leaning toward Blu, but, I’m a little leary because I like a lot of vapor, and Green Smoke is a bit pricey for me…what do you think? I was going to go with V2, but after waiting forever and a day, I ended up cancelling my order. Thanks again for all of your help and have a wonderful day!
Lisa
Andy, Have you or anyone else tried the JOYE 510 from cignot.com? I am going to be buying e-cigs for the first time soon and this was recommended by a friend. Would like some feed-back from others though before I invest. Thanks
Trsennett-
I did a review of the Joye510. Here is a link. (I brought mine from DragonFly and they had great customer service.)
http://www.bestecigarettesreview.com/joye-510-review-by-dragonfly-ecigs/
Hi Veronica,
I saw your post and I just wanted to let you know, I have a fifty-one duo, which is made by Smoking Everywhere. I purchased it at a local tobacco store, and it was reasonably priced. Being my first E-cig, I really didn’t know what I was doing at the time! I really liked it at first, however there are a few down-falls for this brand, I feel. First, the convenience of being able to buy cartridges at the store is great, however, everytime I buy a box of 5 (they are $12.99 per box) at least 1, sometimes 2 to 3 of the cartridges don’t work. The battery life isn’t that great, I bring my charger to work with me, and I seem to constantly have 1 of the batteries in the charger while using the other one. On the upside, the taste isn’t too bad, but I’m finding myself still sometimes smoking, and I feel that if I had a better cig, I would be more satisfied and wouldn’t smoke at all. Their cartridges come in several strengths, I believe they are 0, 4, 8, 12 & 16. (Even though I smoke light cigarettes, I find the highest, 16 to be the best for me.) When you first put a new cartridge on at it works, generally the vapor is great, but unfornately, it’s pretty short lived. Also, I had tried to contact their customer service twice about the cartridges – they never got back to me – I hear the customer service is horrid. So, I believe there are worse e-cigs out there, but I know for sure that there are MUCH better ones!! I would definately spend a little more and get a good one! I’m also searching for a new one, but I can’t seem to make up my mind just yet. I hope the information was helpful!! Good luck to you!
Hi Andy,
With so many different brands of e-cigs out there, I am curious as to why your blog generally only talks about, and gives discounts for, the Green Smoke, V2, BluCig and SafeCig. I bought a Red X kit (www.redxsmokes.com) last night and am wondering if you’ve reviewed that one. Are you compensated from certain companies to expound on their e-cigs or do you and your team actually review many different e-cigs? I don’t care either way, just want to know. Thank you.
Penny,
I have sampled over 30 brands of e cigarettes. Every brand you read about on this website has a place in my home office closet, unless noted otherwise. I invite you to peruse the archives – they date back to 2009 and not all of them are positive experiences. I have constantly shuffled my top five picks based on my personal opinion, customer satisfaction, and of course availability of products, which is starting to become an issue for several brands.
I have never tried Red X Smokes but if the owners are reading this blog, or if you know them personally, send me a kit and I’ll give a review. That’s normally how I work on 99% of the occasion given that this blog has been picked up by many major news feeds and I am giving free exposure to brands that I review. I was recently highlighted in Google News in a press release about the growth of e cigarettes. All I get in return is a free personal vaporizer which is cool – but it’s even cooler for the company if they get me as a long term customer because my voice carries some clout.
I do accept advertising – in fact some companies pay me a fee to advertise and update their discount codes, but if you read the reviews I post they are the product of my opinion and not slighted towards one product. I once said I would never use another e cigarette other than Green Smoke. However, brands innovated and I’ve seen some products that are very different from them, so it’s hard not to sample products that are on the cutting edge.
In the age of buying online companies are able to track what mentions and discounts are working, hence the personal touch on the discount codes. I get people asking me daily to review their kits, and often times I do so. If I don’t enjoy the product, I tell them before posting and usually the review does not appear on the site per their request. I’m not out to hurt anyone – but I will expose scammers. I’ll try any vapor smoking product and give my opinion – but I won’t promote / highlight a product that is sub par or dangerous for any amount of money. This is a pass time I do for the greater good of everyone out there, and if you read my testimonials you’ll see I’ve changed a few lives – that’s something that makes me proud of the effort I put into this blog.
I’m just for the betterment of society, as I DESPISE smoking tobacco cigarettes and really would like to never view one in public again.
Hope that answered your questions, and if you ever need anything from me, just holler.
Hi again Andy,
I have a question (big surprise! lol) – after extensive research, I think I am going to purchase a vapor 4 life kit. I chose this one because of their proximity to my state for shipping purposes, plus you had mentioned in your review that the vapor is really good and very close to V2. (I’ve never tried V2, I wanted to, but they take just too darn long to ship!) My question is, being a “big vapor” person, I’m torn between the manual and automatic – if the automatic still gives good vapor, I would go with that one because I like the price a little better. Also, just for reference, I had tried Smoke Tip and found it to be awful, at least for my preferences. Just wanted to check your opinion before I have to ship yet another one back! Thank you very much and I hope you have a great day!
Lisa S,
Welcome back. How you been? V4L is good – I personally prefer the manual – you’ll always get larger amounts of vapor with a manual. Call it personal preference on a manual e cigarette but I have yet to find anyone who will argue there is more vapor production with a manual.
Andy
Hi Andy,
I’ve been good, how about you? Thank you so much for the information, it is very, very helpful for my decision! From what I’ve read, I have to agree I think I will be happier with the manual also. Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I’ve been great, Lisa. Just about to go home for the day – thought I’d say “you are welcome” and sign off.
All my best – good luck with V4L
Hey Andy,
Smoking 2 packs a day for almost 38 years. Been smoking Newports and looking for an e-cig that comes close to that in flavor and I guess what people here call “throat hit”. Any suggestions???
Thanks
Paul
(appreciate your commitment to this blog)
Paul,
I enjoyed the Newport brand myself, and enjoy the GreenSmoke menthol flavor personally. It gives me similar satisfaction.
Thanks for your kind words and please email me if you want any more specifics as I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to reply to comments this week – doing some traveling.
Andy
Hello everyone! I need 1 last bit of help. I have narrowed down my next order to 2 brands – Vapor4life and the safe cig. I live in Michigan, so V4L is a good choice for me because they are in Illinois for shipping purposes, however I’ve read very good reviews on the safe cig. My biggest “want” is lots of vapor, good throat hit, good battery life, etc. I’m still leaning toward V4L, but I just wanted to check with anyone who has used either and/or both before I make my final decision. Any help from anyone would be greatly, greatly appreciated! And, Andy, thank you once again for your site – I’ve been on countless ones now, and yours is the best! Have a great day and I look forward to hearing anyone’s input!
Lisa,
The Safe Cig is a good option for what you desire. They are all caught up now on their latest shipping debacle, it’s well over a month behind them. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat. V4L is decent, but for what you are looking for, I think TSC is the best option.
Andy,
I am looking at getting my Dad a machine for his birthday he is using a E- Cigrette Rohs,, he is trying his hardest to quite smoking but this finds it doesnt have the feel also takes a few puffs to get working is there any out there that have the texture and weight about the same as a actual smoke ?? the one he has is chrome and really top heavy try to make it easier for him to quite totally
thanks
Jarrod,
Have you given the top brands (listed on the home page) a look?
Thanks so much again Andy!! You’ve been so helpful and I appreciate all of your information! Safe travelling!!
Andy,
I am happy with the safe cig but yes, the weight of it is very heavy. Too heavy to hold like a regular cigarette. Any brand you can recommend that is LIGHTER in weight but tastes as good? I now smoke the ultra light menthol. Thank-you.
Hi Sonja,
V2′s e cigarette is much lighter and has plenty of flavor in their ultra light menthol. Have you tried V2 Cigs?
Hey Andy,
First of all, thank you for getting this site going and continually replying and helping people out…that’s really awesome of you.
I have been a smoker for about 10 years now. I smoke Marlboro Lights…maybe a pack every two days.
What is the best recommendation you have for me? I won’t be using any flavors other than regular tobacco…so the big things for me are to have a close-to-real cigarette taste, and all-around feel of a cigarette (vapor, throat hit, etc.).
Considering I smoke lights, what is the best option for me?
I’m not too incredibly worried about price…it’s more of the real-feel experience, length of use, and ease of use for me.
I appreciate your input…I very much look forward to quitting real cigarettes for good this time around!
Thanks so much for your help.
-Doug
Hi Doug,
It depends how much of a throat hit you are looking for – The Safe Cig offers a nice throat hit, and right behind that, Green Smoke. Some people will argue the Safe Cig tastes a little more like tobacco. To me it’s a little too much and I don’t always crave that taste. So it depends how much of a tobacco taste and throat hit you are looking for – if a lot, go with The Safe Cig. If not, Green Smoke, hands down.
I have discount codes that are current for both brands, so feel free to take advantage of them.
Hi Andy, Your website has really been a godsend for me, since I had NO idea how to even go about researching an e-cigarette. Having your expertise and input has helped me make a (hopefully) informed decision.
In your experienced opinion, could you recommend a e-cig for me? I have been looking at both the Safe Cigs and V2′s. I need something fairly easy to use, not too heavy, that delivers a good, strong tobacco taste. I’m afraid if I don’t get a “real cigarette taste,” that I may go back to the real thing. (I currently smoke Doral Full Flavor). I’m starting my third go-round of Chantix and I know, as I wean away from cigarettes that I will need a “real life” substitute until I can quit for good. Thanks SO much for your help. Kathy
Hi Kathy,
IF “real” cigarette taste is what you crave, “Classic Tobacco” by the Safe Cig does a good job at providing you that same feel. Use the discount code Safe4Andy to save on your first order.
Please come back and share your experience with everyone. I REALLY appreciate your kind words, it’s comments like that which motivate me to continue to be a consumer advocate for e cigarette buyers.
Hello!
I’m am new to electronic cigarettes. I had heard about them but, honestly never cared. I’ve been smoking for years and I realized I need to quit mostly for my family. I’m hoping these will help. Since I’m new I don’t know which one is better for me I’m stuck between getting the Safe Cig or V2 Cigs. I’m leaning to V2 because I saw in one of your youtube videos you said they have a flavour close to marb reds which is my main cigarette brand. I’m also looking for one thats not too heavy. Your opinion would really help because money is tight and I dont want to buy one and be desappointed and have to buy a different one.
Thanks oh so much!
-Andrea
P.S. you’re reviews have been very helpful in narrowing down these brands for me
Andrea,
Go with the V2 Cigs – it’s lighter than Safe Cig in that respect, so you will probably enjoy it. Thanks for your comments!
Andy
Hi Andy~ Have been reading all the advice and info you have shared on these various products. My husband and I have smoked for approx. 40 years, but just last Thursday we became grandparents for the very first time! We want to quit so maybe we can live a little longer to enjoy our beautiful grandson. I think your posts regarding the Safe Cig has convinced me to go that route. Since I will be ordering for 2 of us, I really appreciate your coupon code as well as your advice!
Thanks so much,
Clara
Clara,
It’s my pleasure. Please come back and let us know how everything went.
Best!
Andy
Hello,
Well I just placed my order with Green Smoke for my very first e-cig experience. I was torn between Green Smoke and Safe Cig but went with the GS just on a whim.
I actually quit smoking real cigarettes myself a little over a month ago just by going cold turkey after being sick but still very much miss the ACTION of smoking if that makes any sense, PLUS I am hoping that with getting an e-cig it will encourage my hubby to quit smoking also….I can’t believe the difference in my smell since I have quit and I can’t beleive how undesireable real smoking actually is until I quit myself but yet I am still exposed to it from my hubby (kinda a turn off though) I tell him all the time that really isn’t a pleasant smell.
I can’t believe we put our kids through that awful odor everyday!!! GROSS….. anyhow here’s to hoping e-cigs will finally make us a smoke free home!
Will let ya know how the whole Green Smoke experience goes….if it’s a big hit then I just may try to get my Dad and my son to give it a try…….. Crossing my fingers!
Thanks for all your input!
Veronica
Hi Andy,
I’ve been thinking about trying an e-cig for a while, but finding your site today has totally convinced me that it’s the way to go, and I want to order one TODAY! Based on your comments, I was thinking of going with Green Smoke, but I currently smoke Marlboro Lights Menthol, and I’m curious as to your opinion for the best bet for a menthol smoker.
Thank you so much for the time you put in to help so many of us! The information you provide is invaluable for those of us trying to break this nasty addiction, and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I tell you how very much you are appreciated.
Carol
Carol,
I do it for people like you! Thanks for your kind words and if I can ever help you with anything, just get in touch!
My best!
Andy
Hi Andy
I’ve been reading up on e-cigs and have read about companies with terribly slow shipping. Can you recommend a couple of quick shipping companies?
Right now. Green Smoke and Blu Cigs have ZERO back-up on any item.
Andy,
Me again! Would you be able to recommend a good option for someone who currently smokes Marlboro Lights Menthol? I know you like Green Smoke – were you a menthol smoker?
Thanks so much
Carol
Hi Carol,
I was a menthol smoker. Green Smoke does a great job of emulating that taste, in my personal opinion. Pretty much every brand I use though has done a similar job in making a solid menthol product.
Hello Andy,
I have not tried the V2 yet. Aimee on the V2 reviews mentioned the weight being much heavier than a traditional cigarette. Since you have them both is the V2 lighter than the Safe Cig in weight? My arthritic hands would prefer a light weight. Thank-you for a great informative post.
Hi Sonja,
Every e cigarette out there for the most part is heavier than a traditional cigarette. The lightest one I’ve found is Blu Cigs. V2 is lighter than Safe Cig though – to answer your question.
Hey Andy,
Which one, in your experience, has the best “throat hit”? I’m looking for something as close as possible to the real thing. (I smoke marl. mediums if that matters)
Also, which ones give me the option to “move down” (ie marl. lights) when I feel I’m ready?
Thanks!
I have been thinking of doing the switch for a while now, but had no idea where to start. I really enjoyed reading your opinion on experiences! Very helpful. However, what my problem now is, I’m from Canada and our cigs are different than the U.S, they don’t taste the same at all. I smoke a very light cigarette, Vogue Extra Mild Slims (Cdn). But when I’m in the States and run out of cigs I buy Capri Magenta. I know, why do I even smoke? I’m asked that all the time! But I do, at times a pack a day. Based on this info, can you recommend what I should try?
Thank you in advance for any and all recommendations you can give.
Tami-Jo,
Most of the big e cigarette companies make a 0 mg nicotine solution, which would be the lightest of the light. You can also try a 6 mg which is like an ultra light. As I’m unaware of the brands of tobacco cigarettes you smoke it’s hard to make a suggestion as to an e cig that would line up with that. Is anyone in the audience familiar with Vogue Extra Mild Slims? Capri Magenta?
I’m sure there are some Canadian readers who may be able to help – I’ve got a great following and people are usually quick to help out others.
Hi again! Wow – what an experience I’ve been having! So, I ordered and tried the safe cig. It was EXACT to the “T” to Smoke Tip. Lots of noise, pretty much no vapor, just yuk! I have seen people just raving about the Safe Cig. I ordered the 14 mg cartridges. Could someone direct me as to maybe I need a stronger cartridge? Maybe that’s why it seems like I’m sucking in air? The unit is very snug, I’ve tried plugging 1 of the holes with my finger as someone suggested to get more vapor. Nothing worked. I’m really trying to like it, but, well, it’s just terrible! Their customer service is absolutely horrid! I just wanted to know how and where to send it back to, had to send a support ticket, they said allow UP TO 24-36 hours for a response. 3 days later, with no response, it took me threatening them to finally respond to my question, and instead of giving me the information I requested, they droned on and on about how great their product is and I should really think twice about sending it back. (Well, I did think twice about it, seeing that they charge a 25% restocking fee!!) ARGH!! So, any help about this would help! Thank you very much!
Smoked Capri Magenta, 120′s for years. In e-cigs, 6 mg nicotine (low) seems to satisfy, and the flavors are a matter of personal choice- i.e. you need to sample a variety to see which you enjoy. The idea is to satisfy the craving for cigarettes by replacing tobacco with a variety of unique flavors. Personally, I find it pure joy to puff away without the odor- and dangerous chemicals- of smoke, while satisfying the craving for cigarettes. The simulated “smoke” satisfies and offers a really pleasant and fun substitution.
Personally, I try to stay away from tobacco-flavored cartriges and any reminder of analog cigarettes. I enjoy a variety of unusual flavors, including the Johnson Creek Vanilla and Spiced Apple Cider, and especially like Vapor King berry flavors.
All the brands offer a plethora of tasty and satisfying cartridge flavors, which seem to satisfy this former Capri smoker. Also, I use an extra long battery (“cigarette”), which, while a bit heavier, is similar to Capri 120′s.
Once you acclaimate to the novelty of e-cigs, you will wonder why you ever smoked those smelly tobacco ones!
Hope this helps…
Hello
My dad has been a smoker for about 50 yrs. He has health issues now, and REALLY needs to stop. He stopped at a stand in the mall and tried the Smoke 51 e-cig at 24 mg, and said that was strong enough. I told him I’d research them and others more, but theres so much info, and I’m not a smoker, so I dont exactly know what to look for. He smoke Vantage 100′s, a pack a day. Could someone give me some info on what might work best for him. Also, we cant pay hundreds for them. Maybe a disposible pack at first, then on to the kit if it works. So confusing lol. Thanks in advance =)
Hi Andy, and everyone,
Just a few comments on my experience with The Safe Cig, so far – which isn’t a lot) I ordered the starter kit on 3-31-11 and it arrived 4-5-11. I was amazed at how fast I received it. The product is certainly easy to use and does deliver the “throat hit” that you’d described, Andy, (Thanks for the info). Because I smoke full flavored Doral’s, I ordered the 24 mg Traditional flavor. This was a HUGE mistake!! The 24mg is way too strong. After a couple of puffs, I felt a bit dizzy and headachy. But, as I said, this is all my own fault. So I am going to order either the 18 or 14mg in the Classic flavor. (The traditional flavor I originally ordered is kind of icky for me – again all my own fault). The cig itself is a bit heavy but that just takes some getting used to. Since the company has such FAST delivery, it is a shame their customer service seems to be lacking sometimes.
Also, I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem using their e-cigs in non-smoking places, such as hotel rooms, restaurants, non-smoking bars, etc.??
Thanks again, Andy for all your help and insight!! So much appreciated.
(PS I was wondering how Veronica T’s Green Smoke experience was coming along…)
Kathy,
Thanks for your feedback. To answer your question, I’ve never had a problem in hotel rooms, non smoking bars, etc. I’ve “smoked” my vapor cigarettes in places I thought I’d get bad looks at – but once you explain and demonstrate there is “just vapor” and no fire or odor, everyone is quick to accept the e cigarette.
Hi Kathy,
Just wanted to drop a quick line I still haven’t received my Green Smoke cig…..placed order on April 1st still anxiously waiting. I opted for the FREE shipping which is just the standard shipping says 3-10 days plus I paid by check so had to wait for my check to clear which I’m guessing is why it’s taking a little longer to receive, I have checked the USPS site and they have received confirmation that my package will soon be on it’s way to them so hopefully I will be receiving it sometime this week.
Will be sure to update everyone as soon as it gets here
Veronica
Hi Veronica,
Please do update us when you receive your Green Smoke kit. We’re anxiously awaiting your thoughts and look forward to your review.
Andy
I’m placing my order at V2. Looked online for a coupon code…came across several, but they didn’t work! And yay, yours does! Thanks!
Hi Everyone and Andy,
I just wanted to share that I just recieved my Greensmoke e-cig at the end of last week. I got the social smoker starter kit that came with a variety of strengths and flavors. I am a social smoker and only smoke when I drink. I am disappointed with this product though. I am finding myself having to smoke the “tobacco flavored” full nicotine amount to actually taste any kind of flavor. Otherwise, with the lower strengths such as the lights and ultralights strengths I feel like Im smoking air. Im kinda dissapointed. And Im surprised because like I said Im a social smoker and dont feel like I need a high nicotine content but feel with this that I have to to actually taste anything. Im thinking about returning it and trying a different brand. Andy can you recommend me a different brand? My co-worker has the Joye Dragonfly e-cig that uses the nicotine drops. How do you feel about that?
thanks
Hi Rachel,
I’m not into the liquid products – it’s a lot of work, potential mess, and although you can make custom flavors and stuff, it’s just past the level of simplicity I like to have in any product. It’s a personal preference, many others like liquid products.
As far as another brand, V2 Cigs has earned it’s stripes in recent months – they’ve had some stock issues which are now sorted, but when you want a tobacco taste like you say, Green Smoke isn’t delivering right now. Personally I’m using V2 Cigs now as the Green Smoke prices are out of the market now and many brands have showed that with their lower priced offers. While GS customer service is tops in my book, I’d urge you to contact them with your bad experience.
Btw I do have a code on my V2 entry for 15% off – expires 4-21 if I’m not mistaken.
Hello Andy and all you other wonderful people!
I just came across your site about an hour ago and boy after reading all the comments my head is swimming but it’s been GREAT! I ran across the e cig the other day and so I came home to research it. After looking around the web I found Luci had one I could try so I did and I ordered the full menthol since I smoke marlboro full flavor menthol. Anyway it was ok but my throat gets a bit ” itchy” and I feel like I have to inhale like no tomorrow! At the moment I am at a loss as to where I should order from and what I should even order, ugh any help would be wonderful since this little lady is lost lol
Christina,
Luci isn’t close to the top brands out there – I’d recommend anything on my home page as they have been tried, tested, and commented on since 2009.
Email me personally if you need any one-on-one assistance.
I got the Blu back in Oct. of 2010. I have had to exchange batteries and atomizers 3 times already and I ended up buying 2 more of each. The batteries charge long enough for 4 puffs and start flashing, the atomizers work on and off mostly off. I am so disappointed with this brand and their customer service is good but I’m tired of going without an ecig while waiting to send everything back and wait for the replacements that never work good either! Not to mention the cost of mailing the things back all the time. Now I’m afraid to try another brand because I can’t afford to get ripped off again. I’m beginning to wonder if they are sending me USED replacements.
Hi Cindy,
Interesting. I’ve never had that experience, but then again my Blu Cigs is the newer (post mid January 2011) model which everyone is raving about. Are you sure you have the latest technology they offer?
I followed the Green Puffer link on your website for the free trial – filled in information, including my credit card info – never received an email confirmation and now when I follow the link again it isn’t working!! I got onto the Green Puffer website and there is no record of my email – what the f@@k!!
Patterson,
If you didn’t obtain an order confirmation I would assume your order didn’t go through. Call the company when they open Monday, that’s your best bet to get to the bottom of it.
Hi Andy,
Both me and my wife are looking to change to eciggs. We both smoke marlboro ultra lights i smoke 1 pack a day but my wife smokes over 2 packs a day. I see there is a good choice of brands now but i want to know if you had to buy 2 sets what brand would you chose now,
Thanks
Walter,
That’s a very general question – but GreenSmoke sells a “couples kit” that may be right up your alley. I have a coupon code for you too, Disc10-9219
Thanks so much for giving us the feedback on using e-cigs in public, non-smoking places, Andy. I used it in a hotel and bar near Green Bay, WI this weekend and I did not have any trouble. Also, thanks for the update on your Green Smoke delivery, Veronica. Let us know how you like it when you receive it.
Hi Andy,
Really agonizing over which ecig to try. I’m a menthol smoker for 25 yrs. I’m between safecig, v2, greensmoke, and blu. I have a couple of questions for you.
Is the safecig the only one that automatically shuts the charger off? I do like that feature, but I’m concerned about their customer service.
Which companies use USA made products. I’m a little concerned about the cartridges made overseas. I’m not worried about the batteries, etc., but rather the stuff I’m inhaling. I know this may sound stupid, as now I’m inhaling all of the junk in a REAL cigarette, but at least I know it’s from the US and regulated. This is actually one of the issues my doctor has with me vaping. She says there is no way to tell how much nicotine I’m getting.
Which of the esmokes is most like a real smoke? I hear you talking about throat hit, etc. but can’t really picture it. My friend has the “unique brand” from the mall, which she can use cartridges or drops. I wasn’t that impressed. She has to push a button to inhale.
Thanks so much,
Em
Andy and Friends,
I just want to give an update on my experiences with the safecig. I ordered and received my starter kit on March 17th. I have not touched analog cig since. I love this ecig. I have had no trouble with customer service or shipping with safecig. I had one of the batteries quit working and emailed right away. I received a response quickly and after trying the things they suggested to no avail they said ship it to them which I did. Within a week I had received my replacement battery. I have ordered refill cartridges twice now and this last time I ordered 5 boxes on Friday afternoon and received them on Monday afternoon. I love the taste and the throat hit. This product has been the best thing ever for my quiting smoking. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years and this has been an absolutely painless way to quit. No cravings or anxiety or any of the other affects I have had trying to quit before. I highly recommend the safecig for anyone trying to quit and want the flavor and feel of really smoking. I use the 18mg traditional and smoked doral lights and then pall mall lights(after increases in doral prices) Hope this helps someone as this site was also what convinced me to buy the safecig in the first place. Thanks guys and good luck to all who are trying to quit!!!
Heidi
